The architecture is mainly old buildings; it is a typical Spanish neighbourhood with all the local services.The Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (Spanish) or CityofArtsandSciences is an ensemble of five areas in the dry river bed of the now diverted River Turia.It is designed by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava in collaboration with Félix Candela, and started in July 1996. Each tower is structured in two levels and represents the major ecosystems of the planet.The park is divided into ten areas. The marine areas reflect the Mediterranean habitats, the polar oceans — the Arctic, the islands, the tropical seas, the temperate seas and the Red Sea. The park also includes a dolphinarium. The sea water is pumped from the Playa de la Malvarrosa having passed all of the necessary requirements for quality.
