Playa de las Arenas
Playa de las Arenas, also known as Playa Levante, is a beach in the Cabañal neighbourhood. It borders the Port of Valencia to the south and Malvarrosa beach to the north. Playa de las Arenas is famous for the old Balneario de Las Arenas, which gives it its name. It was built in 1934 in a Greek Revival style found nowhere else in the city, making it well worth a visit during your holiday in Valencia. It is now a luxury hotel, spa and wellness centre where you can banish the stress of everyday life.
The 1 km long Playa de las Arenas has fine, golden sand and is manned by lifeguards, making it perfect for a relaxing family day at the beach. Alongside it runs the Cabañal promenade, next to a traditional fishing neighbourhood with small, brightly coloured houses that has come to life thanks to bars and other trendy places to hang out, such as L’Arbre, La Paca, La Pascuala and La Fábrica de Hielo, alongside classic restaurants such as Casa Montaña.
The Cabañal neighbourhood also goes in for the Fallas in a big way and has another unique tradition of its own: a Sea-themed Easter Week. To enjoy this colourful experience firsthand, we recommend staying in one of our holiday rental apartments in Valencia by the beach.
Playa de la Malvarrosa
Playa de la Malvarrosa is undoubtedly the most famous beach in Valencia. Its name, shared by the beach and the local neighbourhood, dates back to when the marshland was developed in the 19th century. The area was planted with lots of mauve and pink geraniums, whose striking colours gradually gave their name to the neighbourhood and the beach. A few years later, the former fishing neighbourhood began to attract the well-to-do classes from the city. Writers such as Blasco Ibáñez and painters such as Joaquín Sorolla lived here and captured the atmosphere of the beaches and local residents.
If you rent a seaside apartment in Playa de la Malvarrosa in Valencia you’ll have a superb beach on your doorstep and will be able to soak up the local atmosphere in restaurants, bars and cafes. There are also lots of shops and a lively nightlife, especially in summer, when the seaside terraces stay open until late. Enjoy a delicious paella as you gaze out to sea or lick a tasty ice cream at sunset. The neighbourhood has everything you need for a perfect beach holiday.
The fine, golden sands of Playa de la Malvarrosa stretch out for almost 2 km. It is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, kitesurfing and many other beach sports, such as beach volleyball, thanks to its impressive 60 m width. Its services include lifeguards and a tourist information office. If you want to experience it for yourself, check out our apartments in Valencia in Playa de la Malvarrosa!
Playa de la Patacona and Playa de Portsaplaya
