Doctor Waksman

Thinking of coming to Valencia but not sure which is the best area to stay in? We recommend booking a holiday apartment in Avenida Doctor Waksman if you're looking for a quiet residential area with everything you need without being right in the city centre.

Doctor Waksman has excellent transport connections. It’s only 15 minutes’ walk from the main railway station, Estación del Norte, and the new adjoining station for high-speed trains, Joaquín Sorolla. The Estación del Norte is a beautiful, richly decorated 19th-century Modernista building by architect Demetrio Ribes that never fails to impress. It’s well worth a visit even if you don’t plan on catching a train. If you rent a holiday apartment in this area, you’ll be by two metro stations, Jesús and Xátiva, for travel to the city centre and the airport.

The latest addition to the Doctor Waksman area in Valencia is the Parque Central, which will be the largest green space in the city and already consists of several gardens and city allotments at its southern end. One of the city’s loveliest urban icons, Valencian artist Miquel Navarro’s sculpture of the Pink Panther, is also in this area.

Doctor Waksman is also very close to Ruzafa , the city’s hippest place to hang out, which has already earned it the v of the Valencian Soho. So once you’ve settled in to your accommodation in Valencia, pop over and enjoy this fantastic multicultural district, full of craft beer houses, fusion-cuisine restaurants, gourmet shops, vintage stores and lots of art galleries… It also boasts several architectural gems, such as Plaza de Toros and the Modernista Mercado de Colón, which has restaurants inside where you can savour some tapas or try a proper paella. Don’t miss the façade of Casa Guardiola, a superb mansion in Art Deco style with a touch of Egyptian thrown in.

From your accommodation in Waksman, Valencia, you can explore the city centre and shopping area with the greatest of ease. Head for the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and admire the amazing Correos building, with its Modernista belvedere, and the Art Deco Cine Rialto and Filmoteca. There are even more impressive historical buildings nearby, including the Mercado Central, Lonja de la Seda, Santa Catalina church and the cathedral.

Yet another city icon you must see before you leave your holiday apartment in Valencia is Santiago Calatrava’s futuristic complex, the City of Arts and Sciences, part of the lovely Jardín del Turia. Enjoy the nature vegetation in this amazing green space either on foot on by bike. The City of Arts and Sciences comprises several striking buildings, including the Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofía, where can you catch an opera or flamenco show; the Hemisférico, with its impressive IMAX cinema and marvellous planetarium; and the Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe, where kids will love learning about science in a fun, engaging fashion. Not to mention the Oceanográfico, the largest aquarium in Europe, where you can see sharks, dolphins and hundreds of other species that live in the sea.
