The apartment:

This spectacular 200 m2 inward-facing apartment is on the second floor of a building with a lift and has four bedrooms, a spacious living room, a kitchen–dining room and two full bathrooms. Thanks to its spacious, comfortable rooms, it can sleep 10 and is ideal for families.

Pros. . . . 1. The apartment was extremely clean and very large. The apartment starts with a foyer leading right to the master bedroom and bath. Down a hallway is a large eat-in kitchen where we all spent the most time. The second bathroom is off the kitchen. The second bedroom with a queen sized bed was just across from the kitchen. Down the hall was the smallest bedroom with the twins and then came the huge living/dining room area. It had a juliet balcony looking on a beautiful building, and another bedroom with twins with another balcony was off the living room. We almost never used the living room or dining room. 2. Excellent location; right next to many shops, restaurants, bars, pastry shops etc. , and a short walking distance to almost all the tourist sites. The neighborhood, Justicia, seems a long way away on a map but it was just a walk to everything. Madrid is smaller than we thought by NYC standards. 3. The bathrooms and bedrooms were furnished with a combination of traditional and modern. Overall it was very eclectic in a good way. I chose this apartment because it actually had closets for clothing and many of the Madrid apartments I saw only had a bed and side tables in the room but no closets. The bathrooms were spacious and had storage for one's toiletries. 4. Provisions - The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cutlery. There were other useful items like a pitcher for water, wine glasses. There was a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. There was a bath and hand towel per bed. There were no wash cloths. 5. Friendly Rentals - Online, Friendly Rentals was extremely helpful and communicative. I had some issues with my original rental choice and Friendly Rentals made sure that things were worked out quickly. Friendly Rentals left a very detailed handbook for the apartment that clearly went over everything that you needed to know about the apartment, the appliance and the city. In fact, I needed to contact our airlines and the number online was wrong and the number in the Friendly Rentals handbook was correct. In addition, we managed to throw the shower door off its track and someone came by quickly to fix it. Thus, we found Friendly Rentals to be very responsive overall. Also, even though it said we needed to pay in cash, the rental office took our credit card. Which I think is great, they should update their materials to reflect this as it is less stressful to a tourist coming to Madrid. 6 - The building has an elevator which not all Madrid apartments have and is very convenient with multiple large pieces of luggage!
