Benimaclet is a neighbourhood in the east of Valencia, which was until 1878 an independent village. It has a unique charm with a beautiful church and market square. You can still find signs saying “pueblo de Benimaclet” – village of Benimaclet. The streets are typical of villages outside of the city. It is one of the neighbourhoods in Valencia where you will still hear the main language Valenciano, being spoken in the shops, in the streets or in the market.
It is also one of the most community based areas in Valencia, with many of the local social clubs or ‘fallas’ often organising neighbourhood parties and events.
Benimaclet is located very close to the Polytechnic University and is therefore very much a lively student area. It is well connected with public transport with the metro station Benimaclet giving a direct link to the centre and to the airport. It is also on the tramline, which means you can be at the beach within 10 minutes. The beaches and centre are also easily reachable by bicycle and Benimaclet is well linked with cycle paths.
