- Peggy Guggenheim Collection: This is Peggy Guggenheim’s collection of American and European art from the 1900s. Its is located in the “Venier dei Leoni” palace, an unfinished building on the Grand Canal, that for thirty years was the heiress’s house. The museum hosts Peggy Guggenheim’s collection, the main one in Italy concerning 1900s European and American art, where one can admire cubist, abstract and surrealistic works by Picasso, De Chirico, Kandinskij, Magritte, Duchamp, Jackson Pollock and post-war artists. The Guggenheim Foundation also organizes occasional exhibitions of contemporary art.
- Gallerie dell’Accademia: The monumental complex of the Accademia Galleries is set in the famous “Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Carità”, one of the most ancient lay confraternities in the city. The exhibition of paintings is set within the Accademia Galleries and constitutes the most important collection of Venetian paintings. While visiting the galleries one can follow Venetian paintings, from their origins to the end of the XVIII century, admiring works of art by such masters as Paolo Veneziano and Renaissance painters as Giorgione, Tiziano, Tintoretto and Veronese, till the 1700s with Tiepolo, Canaletto and many others.
- Civic Museums: The system of the Venice civic museums is one of the most important in Europe. It is an organic complex of buildings and collections of enormous artistic and historical value. It includes places that are famous throughout the world. A great machine of cultural elaboration and production, it can count on very high attendance figures by an international public, attracted by the permanent collections and by the temporary exhibitions. La Biennale di Venezia- Located in Ca ' Giustinian , the Venice Biennale has for over a century been one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Established in1895 when the first International Art Exhibition was organized, the Venice Biennale has always been promoting new artistic trends, and organizing international events in contemporary arts. In the 1930s new festivals were born: Music, Cinema, and Theatre. In 1980 the first International Architecture Exhibition took place, and in 1999 Dance made its debut at the Venice Biennale.
