The subway station is also walking-distance away, with direct connection to the international airport. A relaxing walk will get you to the heart of the historic center, where you shall find a wide range of stores, restaurants and entertainment, specially in the "Barrio del Carmen." Next to the green areas of the river.
The apartment;
The Shackleston 6 penthouse is located on the fourth floor of a fully redone building with elevator which can house up to 6 guests.
Natural light and a white color code characterize this comfortable and modern penthouse that will pleasantly surprise visitors with its decor and perfect design. It boasts two private terraces on two levels, one of them with a privileged viewpoint of the sky and the most beautiful part of the city of Valencia, whilst the second has direct access from the living room and the master bedroom.
The kitchen is shielded by a graceful white-washed door, granting guests concentrated Mediterranean sunlight in a delightful room with large double glazed wooden windows.
From here the guests will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the city's main domes. White appliances and furniture make up for the area set up for meals, with a custom-made white painted wooden table that seats 6. Equipped with all necessary appliances for a comfortable and practical stay.
The first bedroom, with attic style ceiling, has two single beds and a charming space distribution: gable rooftop, restored antique beams, and the right choice of furniture and textiles. It has a mirror, a chair and vast wardrobe space.
A full bath located next to this room, with natural slate flooring, splits up the bathroom into two levels by separating the area where the large bathtub with a glass screen is located from the rest. The sink's design is emphasized by the fact that it is fitted on wood.
From the hallway you can access a splendid second bedroom, in a elegant partly white tone unifying custom-made furniture and textiles, with delicate details in shades of gray decorating the double bed. There are two bedside tables on two levels, delicate silvery floor lamps, a mirror, a chair, a wardrobe, and a wooden window that allows for immediate flow of light to the interior of the room.
The stunning and picturesque master bedroom, with direct access to the private terrace through two large wood sliding glass doors, has a double bed and pleasantly surprises guests with a clever combination of vanguard design and tradition. The gray headboard and bedside tables, custom-made in wrought iron and wood, are a perfect match. There is also a mirror, wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. In the bathroom, the play of colors with warm chocolate tones in the large bathtub lining and a soft crude beige used for the ground creates a visual scape that invites guests to relax.
The terrace is furnished to comfortably greet eight people: two deck chairs in the solarium and a dining area with a striking wrought iron and ceramic table and chairs with armrests resulting from elaborate craftsmanship. Tropical wood flooring invites guests to celebrate, relax and enjoy the Mediterranean sun.
The elegant living room, a warm and welcoming space, also puts on show designer and vanguard extra details. The dining area has a white lacquered table that can seat 8 people, bookshelves, and custom-made sideboard, and direct access to the private terrace. The large living area has a sofa, an armchair with a leather footstool whose leather has been crafted in a scale pattern, a cleverly chosen coffee table and a large rug. All is set to a stunning angle shaped tropical wood staircase that leads to the large partly-glazed solarium terrace, the apartment's true gem.
The property is equipped with video intercom, air conditioning with cold/hot air mode, and central heating via ducts.
Aside from getting to know and visiting Valencia, the Shackleston 6 apartment offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a stay in a light flooded space, quiet, and full of the city's history without sacrificing anything to all the advantages of a carefully thought-out layout and decor.
Ciutat Vella/El Carmen
The historical centre of Valencia is comprised of El Carmen and the commercial city centre - Ciudad Vella.
Among the most important monuments are Plaza Redonda, Torres de quart, Portal de Valldigna and the Iglesia Del Carmen. One of the main features of El Carmen are the holes in the massive towers of the Torres De Quart from the cannonballs used in the time of Napoleon. The ancient winding streets of the Barrio del Carmen contain buildings dating back to Roman and Arabic times. The Cathedral, built between the 13th and 15th century, is primarily of Gothic style, but contains elements of Baroque and Romanesque architecture. Beside the Cathedral is the Gothic Basilica of the Virgin (Basílica De La Virgen De Los Desamparados). The 15th century Serrano and Quart towers are part of what was once the wall surrounding the city.
UNESCO has recognized the Late Gothic silk exchange (La Lonja de la Seda) as a World Heritage Site. The modernist Central Market (Mercado Central) is one of the largest in Europe. The main railway station, Estación Del Norte, is built in art deco style.
The area is full of young people and lively bars. This lifestyle in contrast to the backdrop of old stone buildings and hidden courtyards, huge wooden doors with high door-knockers (to be reached from horseback) gives the Carmen a unique charm.
In the city centre, to the south of the Carmen, you will find all the international high street shops and most well known brand names. The largest square is the Plaça de l'Ajuntament, which contains the town hall (ajuntament), a cinema that shows classic movies (La Filmoteca), and many restaurants and bars. You cannot miss the majestic post office with paintings on the ceiling.
