The Galatea apartment is situated in the heart of Trastevere, the picturesque medieval area located on the west bank of the Tiber. Part of the historical centre of Rome, Trastevere is the perfect place to glimpse a bit of the old world while still enjoying the lifestyle of today's Romans. From the cobblestone streets to the overhanging laundry lines, senses are pleasantly awakened with every step you take in this bohemian neighborhood. Equidistant from the Coliseum and the Vatican, Trastevere is an ideal place to discover the secrets of Rome on foot. Saint Peter's and the Vatican city are about twenty minutes away and upon crossing the Tiber you get to Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, the Roman Forum, and many other sights, all within 20 to 30 minutes walking. If you want to take public transportation, the area is extremely well served by the electric buses of Rome.

A few blocks from the Galatea apartment, you can find the outdoor market of Campo de' Fiori, where tented booths display a bountiful array of tantalizing fruits and vegetables, or the Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, the most popular gathering place in the area. In this square you will find the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Rome which is very much worth a visit. The area becomes very lively at night as it is full of trendy bars and dozens of quality restaurants and pizzerias, where you can taste great Italian food at reasonable prices.

The apartment:

On the 2nd floor of an ancient building with elevator, the Galatea Apartment has been recently renovated in an elegant and contemporary style. It is a large and perfectly organised space with a lot of natural light coming from the windows overlooking a quiet Trastevere street.

The entire apartment is designed tastefully with parquet wood flooring and white furniture. The sleeping area houses a queen sized tatami bed and a wide wardrobe. The living room is spacious and comfortable: relax here by listening to music, watching a DVD or planning your excursions for the next day. You can also find a comfortable double sofa bed suitable for the 3rd and 4th guest. If you choose to cook some of the wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables bought at the local outdoor market, the kitchen is modern and fully equipped making cooking a pleasure.

Finally, a beautifully designed bathroom completes the apartment and includes a Jacuzzi bathtub/shower unit, ideal to relax completely after long walks in the city. The whole apartment is fitted with air conditioning and central heating. It is also provided with wireless internet and double glazed windows. All linens and towels are provided.
