Le Marais
In the tenth century, tourists were not this lucky!
From the thirteenth century what were former marshes located on the outside of the city, in the Marais area, were transformed into damp soil crop fields (hence the name of Marais!).
Annexed to the city in 1360, it meant the start of the famous French style mansions, holiday homes for the kingdom's aristocracy, whose highpoint was the Place des Vosges.
A major restoration project of the buildings that had been the glory of the eighteenth century Marais, now allow visitors to fully enjoy the charms of one of the most visited Paris quarters.
Accessible by subway line 1, stay and discover a now trendy place where fashion designer boutiques, showrooms and art galleries harmoniously coexist with bars and restaurants.
Tale a stroll down Rue des Francs Bourgeois and find out which are the latest Parisian trends in shops that have perfectly managed to fit in in the Marais Middle Ages picture.
A village atmosphere to live and discover ... preferably on foot!
