Museums in New York
- Ellis Island Immigration Museum
Ellis Island played the greatest roll in the immigration into the United States that occurred from 1892 to 1924. It has been estimated that nearly half of all Americans today can trace their family history to at least one person who passed through the Port of New York at Ellis Island. A must see.
- American Museum of Natural History
Founded in 1869, the American Museum of Natural History is perfect for kids and adults. It is a wonderful example where Science, Culture, Nature and the Universe get together and converse and talk to us.
- The Guggenheim Museum
An impressive architectural landmark building by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Guggenheim Museum is constantly home for fabulous exhibitions.
- The Metropolitan Museum of Art
It is the biggest museum in the United States with around 2 million works of art and over 5 million visitors every year.
The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)
The MOMA addresses itself to the history and modern status of modern and post modern art. It represents nearly every movement since the late 19th century.
The Tenement Museum
It is probably the only vivid example of how the lower class in New York lived during the mid 19th century. It is an uncommon experience and very interesting.
The Whitney was founded in 1930 with the idea of celebrating the work of artists while they were still alive. The permanent collection is just fantastic and there are always great exhibitions.
