A stylish penthouse apartment on the 10th floor in the heart of Palma

The Helios apartment is a penthouse on the 10th floor of a building in Palma’s Santa Catalina area. The two terraces and the location a stone’s throw from the Paseo Mallorca/Jaume III and the Santa Catalina market makes this an apartment that is well worth a visit.

The Area Surrounding the Apartment

The apartment building is located on a residential street in the area Santa Catalina. Santa Catalina is where to go for classy restaurants, creative tapas and fashionable bars when you are visiting Palma. For your convenience there is a folder in the apartment with some suggestions and pointers on what you definitely should not miss out on during your visit.

The centre of Palma in the form of Jaume III, the street lined with exclusive shops that takes you in towards the Paseo des Born, the Cathedral and the main square, Plaça Mayor, is at a very convenient walking distance. It will take you no more than five minutes to reach the starting point on Jaume III: Corte Inglés.

The Apartment

The Helios apartment is located on the 10th floor of the building. There are two lifts that take you up to the 9th floor and then there is one additional flight of stairs that takes you up to the Helios apartment.

You step out onto the front terrace with absolutely fantastic views of the sea. This is where you can enjoy the sun all day long, have breakfast as well as a glass of wine in the evening while taking in the views.

Upon entering you find yourselves in an open plan and very modern apartment. The combined kitchen, dining and living room is very bright and is equipped with all the details you might need for a comfortable visit: dishwasher, microwave, kettle, TV , DVD and so on.

Behind this initial room is the bedroom with the en-suite bathroom and the second terrace. The second terrace is in the shade for most of the days, which might be a nice option during the hotter months if you want to sit outside, but prefer not to be directly in the sun. All combinations are possible here!

For a couple looking for that romantic hideaway, in the middle of the city but high above the hustle and bustle, this apartment is absolutely perfect!

La Lonja is the restaurant area nearest the heart of the city where you can find such famous places as “Abaco” for cocktails and “La Boveda” for tapas. Both well worth a visit. One of the main streets in this area is the C/Apuntadors, leading to Plaça Drassanes from the Passeig des Born. Some of our apartments are located on the C/Apuntadors itself and this is a marvelous location for you to discover the restaurants and bars on offer in the La Lonja area of Palma as well as the shopping which is just around the corner.

The La Lonja area also contains quite a few lovely squares where you can enjoy the local life as it passes you by on the streets and in the cafés. The square next to the “La Lonja” itself, the old fish market, which looks more like a church, is highly recommended for tapas and lunches outside on the big restaurant terraces. The Drassanes square is also good for a quick snack or tapas on your way from the centre out to Santa Catalina and some of the lovely restaurants you can find there or on the way.

Walking further left, or west, passing the Plaça Drassanes and heading up to the Museum of Modern Art, or perhaps strolling along the seafront under the palm trees that gave the city its name, you arrive at Santa Catalina. Santa Catalina is a bohemian area with low buildings and a big variety of very good restaurants and up and coming bars. This is the area to visit for a good meal and interesting walks.

 In the area between La Lonja and Santa Catalina you get more classic, typical bars open all year, which are mostly visited by the locals. If you are looking for the best empanadas in town, then this is a must!

Santa Catalina is known as the restaurant district of Palma and is famous for its up and coming bars and restaurants. It might be a good idea to check in with one of the local tourist offices either on the Passeig des Born or the Plaça Espanya to check which restaurants are the talked about while you are visiting. You can also ask our staff on Mallorca for recommendations on restaurants and bars in this area.

C/Fabrica is definitely one of the streets in Santa Catalina that clients should check out to see what is on offer.

Friendly Rentals have quite a few apartments in the Santa Catalina area since this is a very up-and-coming part of Palma that absolutely should not be missed. It might be a good idea to book your parking space in advance with the accommodation, if available, since it is sometimes difficult to park on the Santa Catalina streets during the high seasons, weekends and so on.

This is an area of Palma that is a must, be if for Asian fusion or Argentinian steak houses. This is also the area that leads you to the next point of interest: the Passeig Marítimo and its bars and nightclubs!
