Madrid is an energetic city, with lots of atmosphere and plenty to do and see. The Rastro apartment is an ideal choice from which to map out your daily jaunts to discover everything this great city has to offer.
The area surrounding the apartment:
The area where the Rastro apartment is located is well known for its popular street market which takes place on Sundays and where you can find a great variety of antiques and all kinds of hand made articles, clothes… this market is called “EL RASTRO”. Hundreds of small stalls cover the street in an unforgettable experience were people go to buy or just look around at this exciting market, open on Sundays, it is advisable to get there early in the morning to avoid the huge crowds that start to gather around noon. Around 2pm many stalls start to pack up.
EL RASTRO is surrounded by three big streets, Toledo, Embajadores and Ronda de Toledo.
A short 5 minute walk in variouos directions will take the visitor to all the sights and places of interest such as El Palacio Real, Opera or Plaza Mayor apart from the most interesting museums like Reina Sofia which is just ten minutes walking and where we can visit the famous Gernica from Picasso.
A short 5 min walk will take you to to “La Latina” where we can find the best bars and “tapas” of the city and where people go just to have fun and enjoy the atmospheric neighbourhood crowed with an enormous variety of places to taste all kinds of meals restaurants and bars open from noon to late night hours.
The Apartment;
The Rastro apartment is an exterior facing apartment which means there is plenty of natural light; this gives a very warm and welcoming feel making the guest feel right at home from the moment they walk in...
The Rastro apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and can sleep up to 6 people. The main bedroom comes with a double bed and plenty of wardrobe space for all the guests belongings. The double bed comes with a gliding breakfast table which is on wheels, and can be positioned wherever is most convenient; this can be used, as mentioned, for breakfast or for reading or for writing papers.... the second bedroom comes with two single beds and also comes with it's own built in wardrobe. Both bedrooms have plenty of natural light as they are exterior facing ....
The living/dining room is perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing and/or shopping, or just before heading out to discover one of the many hot spots and fabulous restaurants or bars Madrid has to offer... here the guest will find the TV, DVD and also the sofa which can be used as a sofa bed for the 5th and 6th guests... the dining table and chairs for all six guests can also be found here in this area...
The kitchen is large and modern and comes fully equipped with all the mod cons necessary to prepare any meal should the guest feel inclined to cook.... it comes with all the usuals such as washing machine, pots and pans, juicer, toaster, coffee maker, glasses, etc...
As the Rastro is a spacious apartment, approx 75m2, it comes with two bathrooms, both of which come with a bath/shower unit, toilet, sink, bidet, etc; fresh towels are provided, ready for use upon arrival..
As can be seen the Rastro apartment comes with a swimming pool and gym, for the sole use of the residents of this building. The guests of el Rastro are welcome to avail of these facilities also.There is also parking available for 10€ per day PLease note that the parking measurements are as follows: Length(4.70), Width (1.75), height(2.00).

Atocha
Atocha is the zone surrounds Atocha train station located in the Public square of Emperor Carlos V, facing the station is The Reina Sofia Museum of Modern Art, Paseo del Prado or Paseo del Arte, Retiro park and Ronda de Atocha (where there are several cultural centers). In the area there are also a number of art galleries, restaurants and shops selling a range of curiosities.
The Reina Sofia Museum of Contemporary Art opens on Mondays, making it a good choice for a day when the other museums in the city are closed. The museum is one of the essential museums of the city. besides the temporary exhibition halls and the halls devoted to the permanent collection the museum houses one of Picasso's most important pieces “The Guernica”, as well as many other important works of contemporary artists.
The museum is located in a reformed building of the XVIII with modern elements and 2 years ago a new area was to him agrgado designed by the architect Jean Nouvel, with a showy red structure in the cover. Within the new extension of the museum you have the restaurant Arola Madrid run by cook Sergi Arola, one of most famous of Spain. It is an informal restaurant, dedicated to the Mediterranean kitchen in his essence and where its modern inner design, divided in three different atmospheres plays an important role.
The Station of Atocha is complex structure made up of the beautiful crystal structure
And brick dating back to the19th century. The station's main entrance houses a tropical greenhouse, part of the reform by Rafael Moneo.
Atocha is also the monument to the victims of the 2004 Madrid train bombings ,also known by Spaniards as 11-M (eleventh of March)
