Bright Zen décor for a comfortable stay.

This apartment, flooded with natural light, has been fully renovated in the spirit of Zen, where space gets the better part of consideration. Located in the Baixa, with the Tagus serving as a mirror, just steps away from Lisbon's Town Hall Square and Praça Do Comércio, you will be able to explore the whole city quickly and easily by taking advantage of all the means of transportation you have within arm's reach: bus, tramway, ferry, and train.

The apartment:

This lovely 70sq.m apartment, fully conceived anew, in a pure and simple Zen style, along with the colourations of the ancient wooden floor, also completely done anew, are the core elements that mark the tranquil pace here. A touch of metallic grey has been used to highlight the white room. The whole living quarters are laid out around an impressive metal beam, also in a shade of grey. The fully equipped kitchen shares one space with the living-room, where the owner has taken great pleasure in blending decorative styles. The dining table, set in a truly contemporary dining-room, has antique chairs whose seats have been upholstered in completely different materials, whilst a white sofa has been placed next to a magnificent antique bank coffer.
The bedroom has two single beds that can be placed together to make a 160cm wide double bed, and it is located at the back of the building to give you the most peaceful nights, it also has a modern bathroom with a shower.

For you next stay in Lisbon, the Arsenal is a comfortable and convenient choice thanks to its privileged location.

Baixa

The Baixa which means “downtown” is delimited by a hill on each side : Chiado and Bairro Alto on one side and the Castelo hill on the other side. Until the end of the XIXth century, the city was entirely dedicated to the trade business with the Indies. Any ship coming from the colonies would dock at Terreiro do Paço. It is in this same area that king D. Manuel ordered his Palace to be built in the XVIth century. But in 1755, an earthquake destroyed entirely this part of the city and it had to be reconstructed, following this time a geometric grid design for streets and squares. Trade activity always took place in the Praça do Comercio under the arcades, by the Tagus river bank, but nowadays it gave place to Ministries. From the square start several shopping streets, like the rua Augusta, a very busy pedestrian street with cafes and stores. The Baixa area stretches until Rossio, the most central square of the city, famous for its cafés, like café “Nicola” or the pastry “Suiça”, but also for its train station, a beautiful monumental building with a superb typical façade of Manuelin style, where all trains leave to Sintra.
