Bright interiors and lovingly considered decor with subtle details that transport you back through time.

The owners have carefully selected the decorative items, some of which date from the 70s, or are objects brought back from their various journeys, or from the Chinese countryside, for example a marvellous grocer's cabinet featuring authentic grain boxes. The whole makes for a fabulous splash of sun for the moments of relaxation between your promenades around the city. It is located steps away from the Praça Do Comércio, and the Tagus and the Baixa, giving you even further enjoyment from the main tourist sites in and around town.

The apartment :

Located in a lovely neighbourhood which is very lively during the day and calm once night falls, this large 120sqm apartment on the 3rd floor, without elevator access, in an early 19th century building, has been the object of a very personal interior design philosophy, with plenty of details which will delight you: the bedroom is covered with music scores, there are antique toys, and other typically Portuguese objects displayed inside a fantastic grocer's cabinet, and the lighting scheme comes straight out of the Disco years. Three lovely and quiet bedrooms can accommodate a total of 6 guests. A fully equipped kitchen will allow you to prepare your meals to enjoy in the adjoining dining room. The apartment has one bathroom with an antique-style bathtub.

For the winter, the apartment has electric heaters.

A perfect location for an unforgettable stay in a truly retro atmosphere.

Baixa

The Baixa which means “downtown” is delimited by a hill on each side : Chiado and Bairro Alto on one side and the Castelo hill on the other side. Until the end of the XIXth century, the city was entirely dedicated to the trade business with the Indies. Any ship coming from the colonies would dock at Terreiro do Paço. It is in this same area that king D. Manuel ordered his Palace to be built in the XVIth century. But in 1755, an earthquake destroyed entirely this part of the city and it had to be reconstructed, following this time a geometric grid design for streets and squares. Trade activity always took place in the Praça do Comercio under the arcades, by the Tagus river bank, but nowadays it gave place to Ministries. From the square start several shopping streets, like the rua Augusta, a very busy pedestrian street with cafes and stores. The Baixa area stretches until Rossio, the most central square of the city, famous for its cafés, like café “Nicola” or the pastry “Suiça”, but also for its train station, a beautiful monumental building with a superb typical façade of Manuelin style, where all trains leave to Sintra.
