For lovers of art and unique interior design

For a stay in the town centre, close to restaurants and the lively shopping streets, choose the Dom Duarte Arts apartment! From here you are able to sightsee directly on foot, and when you're tired of walking around, get back home easily to enjoy the intimacy of the private terrace available to you.

The apartment:

The Dom Duarte Arts is a 5th floor apartment with no elevator access which can accommodate up to 4 guests.

The décor brings together slick, designer pieces, with period furniture infused with history, and decorative items with a vintage feel, such as a collection of hats delicately placed around the dresser, which all combine to bring a special kind of chic allure to the apartment. The living room has a lounge and a dining room area. A large bay window opens up the view onto the terrace and allows light to flood in. There is one "all-white" bedroom with an ultra modern bathroom attached to the bedroom space. And another bedroom which is beautifully enhanced by its wooden structure, surely enough once a partition wall, and with a lovely Napoleonic style desk. You shall also find a complete bathroom equipped with a separate shower unit. Lastly, there is a modern kitchen which opens onto the terrace where you can have your meals if you so desire.

Choosing the Dom Duarte Arts for your next Lisbon break means choosing a truly luxuriously designed sanctuary in the heart of the Baixa.

Baixa

The Baixa which means “downtown” is delimited by a hill on each side : Chiado and Bairro Alto on one side and the Castelo hill on the other side. Until the end of the XIXth century, the city was entirely dedicated to the trade business with the Indies. Any ship coming from the colonies would dock at Terreiro do Paço. It is in this same area that king D. Manuel ordered his Palace to be built in the XVIth century. But in 1755, an earthquake destroyed entirely this part of the city and it had to be reconstructed, following this time a geometric grid design for streets and squares. Trade activity always took place in the Praça do Comercio under the arcades, by the Tagus river bank, but nowadays it gave place to Ministries. From the square start several shopping streets, like the rua Augusta, a very busy pedestrian street with cafes and stores. The Baixa area stretches until Rossio, the most central square of the city, famous for its cafés, like café “Nicola” or the pastry “Suiça”, but also for its train station, a beautiful monumental building with a superb typical façade of Manuelin style, where all trains leave to Sintra.
