The apartment:

The São Carlos apartment is an elegant classic apartment, with all comfort and best standards in equipments. The building is one those very elegant houses of the historical area, but completely restored, modernized and therefore it includes all recent facilities like elevators, air conditioning and underground garage (extra charge). This property possesses all attributes of a superb apartment, with its vast volumes, high ceilings, fireplace and blond wooden floors.

The apartment features up to 4 people, and comprises a simple white painted suite with a 140cm-wide double bed and a bathroom featuring a bathtub with Jacuzzi jets. The second bedroom has also a 140cm-wide double bed and the second bathroom is all in marble with a bathtub, hairdryer and high quality toilet linen. All bedrooms are very spacious with closets and large windows opening to the theatre square and small balconies.

The living room is decorated in modern style with a wall fireplace. Audio-visual devices are also of top quality with a large plasma TV. The dining area is composed of a large table just before the kitchen, hidden behind a glass sliding wall. Fully equipped with brand new appliances, ustensils and cookware, exactly like at home, the kitchen is ultra modern as you can imagine. But why staying and cooking here when so many restaurants and bars are waiting for you outside !

In summer, the apartment is equipped with air conditioning in every room and for the winter there is central heating.

Chiado

The Chiado is a multi facet neighbourhood : at the same time historical with nice and elegant houses, shopping area with chic boutiques in rua Garrett and cultural centre of Lisbon with theatres, the São Carlos opera house and many historical cafes. Chiado spreads out from the Bairro Alto, next to Luis Camões Square or Largo do Carmo and goes downhill to reach the banks of the Tagus river or towards the Rossio Square in the lower part of the city. In other words, you are here at the very centre of the city, a district entirely rebuilt at the end of the 18th century after the earthquake and more recently after a huge fire in 1988. But the place is mostly known as a shopping area, go down the Garrett street towards Baica and Rossio Square. If you simply look for restaurants, bars, night clubs or fado houses in the Bairro Alto, you only have to climb the stairs, or if you prefer take the Gloria Funicular or even the 19th century Santa Justa elevator to the top of the hill. On the south slope, the Chiado goes down to the banks of the river called “Mar de Palha” (straw sea), next to the metro and train station of “Cais do Sodré” which will allow you to reach the beaches along the coast of Estoril or Cascais in about 45 minutes, unless you prefer to cross the Tagus using one of those typical boats called “Cacilheiro” from the Maritim Station. For food shopping, you’ll enjoy the market across the street with fresh fish coming right from the Setubal harbor, juicy fruits and fresh vegetables.

    Location was excellent. Near Metro, food and shopping , all within 10 minutes walk. Central air was very nice. Great size and amenities.Very rare to find 2 full bathrooms in a two bedroom apt.Agent was very nice and helpful. Self Parking on site was nice.
    Advertised washer/dryer, but could only get washer to work and 4 adults plus agent and friends could not get dryer to work. No instructions were provided......suspect it was disconnected to save electricity.So...don't advertise dryer...it was a big selling point in our apt. selection. Agent made us wait 1 hour past our agreed meet time at the apt.

    Location was superb, the apartment was very light, airy and very well presented. Electronic swipe access very good (no keys to lose!) The WIFI excellant. Good restaurants close by. Most helpful meet and greet staff/owners.
    There was nothing needed to improve the experience, but having information in the apartment on local restaurants (menus or web address) and nearest food shop is always helpful.
