A charming and spacious apartment in the heart of Chiado district
Ideally situated in a typical street between Escadinhas do Duque and Largo do Carmo, in the elegant Chiado district and at a walking distance of the Largo Luis Camões and the Brasileira Café made famous by Fernando Pessoa, this nice apartment kept all charm from the XIXth century with its vast volumes, its wooden doors and floors. Its decoration with live colors and selected furniture highlight your feeling of comfort and modernity.
The apartment:
Located on the 2nd floor (no lift) of a XIXth century building, this 70 sqm flat is very sunny and bright and offers you comfort and space. One double bedroom and two twin beds in another smaller room can easily accommodate up to 4 people. The living room is tastefully decorated with antique furniture which makes the Duque apartment cosy, cheerful and welcoming. The dining room with a large table provides you a nice space for your dinners. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances. At last the apartment also features a bathroom, all in tiles with a shower. Upon arrival, you will find fresh towels.

Chiado
The Chiado is a multi facet neighbourhood : at the same time historical with nice and elegant houses, shopping area with chic boutiques in rua Garrett and cultural centre of Lisbon with theatres, the São Carlos opera house and many historical cafes. Chiado spreads out from the Bairro Alto, next to Luis Camões Square or Largo do Carmo and goes downhill to reach the banks of the Tagus river or towards the Rossio Square in the lower part of the city. In other words, you are here at the very centre of the city, a district entirely rebuilt at the end of the 18th century after the earthquake and more recently after a huge fire in 1988. But the place is mostly known as a shopping area, go down the Garrett street towards Baica and Rossio Square. If you simply look for restaurants, bars, night clubs or fado houses in the Bairro Alto, you only have to climb the stairs, or if you prefer take the Gloria Funicular or even the 19th century Santa Justa elevator to the top of the hill. On the south slope, the Chiado goes down to the banks of the river called “Mar de Palha” (straw sea), next to the metro and train station of “Cais do Sodré” which will allow you to reach the beaches along the coast of Estoril or Cascais in about 45 minutes, unless you prefer to cross the Tagus using one of those typical boats called “Cacilheiro” from the Maritim Station. For food shopping, you’ll enjoy the market across the street with fresh fish coming right from the Setubal harbor, juicy fruits and fresh vegetables.

Situación en el centro de la ciudad,Confort,Limpieza, Trato,amabilidad y disposición de los propietarios.
El baño, algo pequeño e incomodo. Se debería haber avisado en la publicidad la enorme dificultad para el aparcamiento, prácticamente imposible, salvo parking de pago.

Un excellent emplacement pour profiter de Lisbonne et se déplacer dans ses quartiers. L'appartement est clair et très fonctionnel, décoré avec goût et bien équipé. Un vrai bonheur !

The best thing about the apartment is its central location, just a 5 min walk from Rossio subway station and 2 min from the Rossio train station. There is also a supermarket 2 minutes away. Good food and sightseeing spots are literally steps away. There are however about 30 steps uphill to get to the building, and another 3 flights of stairs to reach the apartment. However, we did not find this to be a problem. The owners of the apartment were very friendly and helpful! They were enthusiastic about showing us the apartment and giving good suggestions for places to eat and see. The apartment is a bit older, but well-kept. There were 2 good-sized bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The washroom was a bit tight, but nevertheless modern and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped with clean pots/pans/plates and cutlery. There was also a new-looking washer/dryer in the kitchen (washing detergent provided too!) which worked well and came in handy. There was plenty of hang-rack space in both rooms to dry our clothes. The hot water was generated by a gas heater and simple to turn on. There was no air conditioning, but fortunately, the apartment was fairly cool during the evening, so we just needed to leave some of the windows open in the afternoon to keep the place cool. To that extent, there were windows in every room, so the place was well-ventilated and -lit throughout the day. It does get a bit noisy at night because of its central location, but it never disturbed our sleep. The only thing that maybe could be improved would be the addition of internet access. This place is a great deal for those who want to have the option to chill in the city at an AMAZING location, with great hosts!

Impecablemente decorado, acogedor en sus espacios, dormitorios dispuestos para un sueño reparador despues de disfrutar de Lisboa. Muy buena ubicación para llegar caminando a lugares de interes y acceso a medios de transporte: Tren a Sintra, Bus al aeropuerto. Agradecemos la gentileza de Ana y Joao en su recibimiento.
Estuvimos en Invierno y el sistema de calefacción es claramente insuficiente; 2 ventiladores de aire caliente. Pensando en que pudieran ir personas mayores o con mucho equipaje creo sería bueno indicar que el Dpto. está en la práctica en un 4° Piso sin ascensor.

solo l'assenza di riscaldamento adeguato. La locazione durante i mesi invernali anche in una città dal clima comunque mite com Lisbona, deve prevedere un riscaldamento adeguato per i suoi ospiti, cosa che purtroppo è mancata......

La situación es ideal, está en pleno Chiado con mucha vida alrededor pero al mismo tiempo es muy tranquilo, tiene buenas ventanas y no se oye nada por la noche, perfecto para divertirse pero también para descansar. La decoración es preciosa y está muy bien equipado. Además João, el dueño, nos dio muchísimas facilidades y fue realmente amable con nosotros. Recomendable al 100%

The whole experience was perfect. The location was excellent for seeing the city and using the train/metro. It was very quiet. Very clean. Very well equipped and decorated. The owner was very helpful and willing to give information. He also patiently waited for us, as we were a couple hours late arriving. We spent 3 weeks exploring Portugal and this was our best stay. Thank you very much. Its a beautiful apartment.
