A small duplex in the heart of Alfama

Located in the heart of Alfama, one of the city districts that has least changed since the 17th century, not having suffered the consequences of the 1755 earthquake, the Electrico apartment is named after the famous tram No. 28, which passes close by. From this charming duplex apartment, you can easily observe everyday street life and the tram going back and forth, so typical of Lisbon. You will also be close to the São Vicente church.
In the vicinity there are numerous taverns, traditional restaurants and Fado houses, but also grocery stores and all kinds of old Lisbon stores.

The apartment:

The building in which the Electrico apartment is located is an old building completely restored. Tastefully decorated, this apartment combines traditional and modern, where wood flooring fits-in perfectly with the stonework. The apartment is small, with a 35 m2 area and occupies both the ground and first floor of the building. You enter directly into the dining room level. The kitchen corner is modern and has all the appliances needed to make your meals. On this same level is the bathroom, with a large shower, modern sink, and separate toilet.

A narrow wooden staircase leads you upstairs where there is a small living room with a sofa that can serve as a bed for a child (no additional charge), a television, a modern fireplace and storage space. Comfortably seated on the puff-sofa next to the big window, perched above it all, you can watch and enjoy the street life as if you were a part of it too.
On a slightly lower level, you will find the small bedroom open to living room, where there is a double bed.

In winter, you can use individual electric heaters.

Ready yourself for a pleasant stay in a historic atmosphere, just steps away from the city's tourist sights.

Alfama

If you come to Lisbon, you cannot miss Alfama, one of the most picturesque and historical medieval neighborhood, a mesh of small tiny streets, cul-de-sacs and stone stairs. Here lives a mixed population, people of all ages, “true” lisboners or lost tourists come to visit or to listen Fado. Like in many other places in Lisbon, you’ll find here also some of the most spectacular viewpoints of the Tagus river and the city. Here you can still find various forms of traditional commerce, as well as nice quaint little restaurants and bars. From the apartment you can walk to the majority of the most popular sightseeing destinations, such as the “Castelo de S. Jorge” the “Sé” or the “Baixa Pombalina”. For transportation, walk, or go down to Santa Apolónia the main train station and its recently opened metro station, or use the popular tram n°28 that zigzags through Alfama and pursues its trip up and down the hills of Lisbon. Although of restricted access by car, there are several parking facilities nearby.

This is a well arranged and comfortable apartment within easy reach of many attractions, excellent restaurants and shops. It's just ten minutes walk from the city centre and well served by the trams that stop just up the road. The owner was very friendly and helpful and we wish we had stayed for a fortnight rather than a week. Paul, United Kingdom 05 March 2012

Loved the location. Close to everything around Lisbon. The old world building was very modern in it's upgrades. Audrey, Canada 28 September 2011

Het appartement is uitstekend bevallen. Charmant onderkomen. Gezellige wijk, goed openbaar vervoer. Je moet wel positief staan tegenover het trammetje wat in de ochtend zeer vroeg langs davert. Omdat wij er ons op ingesteld hadden was het geen enkel probleem. B.j.p., Netherlands, the 25 October 2010
