A flat coiled in the precincts of Sao Jorge Castle
This time, it is in the actual inside of the Sao Jorge Castle, the most visited monument in Portugal that this delicious apartment is hiding, in one those small and narrow middle-aged streets, kept almost intact until now. Nicely arranged to accommodate a family, the flat is plenty of good surprises, a simple but cosy place to rest not far from many restaurants, the Alfama district and the main points of interest for tourists of the city. The neighbourhood is very typical, many souvenirs shops, but also popular with tiny groceries and other shops, its old persons sitting at their doorstep and giving you their warm welcome in Portuguese !
The area surrounding the apartment:
The neighborhood of Costa do Castelo features some of the most spectacular viewpoints of Lisbon. If you simply stroll around for a quick 30 minute walk, you will have views over most of the city and the Tagus river. Should you go up to the terraces of the São Jorge Castle, Lisbon will lie underneath at your feet. From here, turn towards the ocean and spend hours just watching the perfect geometry of the Baixa Pombalina. The Miradouro of Santa Luzia, just in front of Largo das Portas do Sol is only a few hundreds of meters away, so is the sector of Alfama in its vicinity of the Tagus. In the Baixa, a 5 minute walk from here, you’ll find a very busy shopping area where typical portuguese shops stand next to those with the newest brands of the market.
The apartment:
The Sao Jorge apartment is on the 2nd floor (no elevator) of an old house, in one of those tiny streets surrounding the São Jorge Castle but with much quietness since the area is restricted for car transit.
Over an area of 50m², the apartment, with its white walls and its old wooden floor, opens on a bright living room with a sofa, two armchairs, a TV and a stereo hifi . Next door is the kitchen with all appliances and a table with chairs where you can have all your meals.
There are two bedrooms, the bigger one with a double bed and the other smaller one with bunk beds. The bathroom with a bath offers all comfort you may expect.
The apartment is within a car-restricted area where only taxis and residents' cars can enter. If you come by car you will only have a foot access and must park your car outside the area.
An ideal accommodation for a family with children seeking to relax and so close to everything in Lisbon.
