In this aparment, everything has been well thought out and organised to make your stay in the 7 hill city very pleasant. Even if the Alma Mater apartment is located in one of those typically steep streets, at the top of a small pretty building, from the doorstep you’ll forget it all and enjoy the confort of this nice two room flat. Moreover it is ideally located in central Lisbon, the Principe Real neighbourhood is very close to Bairro Alto and Chiado, the famous places for nightlife or shopping, but at the same time next to the peaceful garden of Praça das Flores or Principe Real and next to rua São Bento well known for antique shops.

The area surrounding the apartment:

Principe Real, the historical heart of the city; if you want to have a feel of the Lisbon life with everything at walking distance, choose Principe Real neighbourhood. This area is ideally located on the top of a hill which Lisbon is so famous for, with superb views of the city and the Tagus river. You are a couple of streets away from Bairro Alto where you’ll find restaurants and bars at night. If you pass by the São Pedro de Alcantara viewpoint, you can also easily reach the shopping areas of Chiado or Rossio by street elevator. If you go down the other way, you’ll discover typical old streets leading to São Bento Parliament House where you can find every type of restaurant and typical Portuguese antique shops.

The apartment:

The Alma Mater apartment is at the top of steep wooden stairs, an architectural characteristic of most 19th century houses in this area of Lisbon. Situated a few steps away from the garden of the Praça das Flores where you can try a “bica” (portuguese coffee), a few hundred meters away from some of the most famous monuments, the São Bento Parliament, the antique shops, other shopping areas and viewpoints of Lisbon.

The apartment is a duplex located on the 2nd floor and has recently been completely refurbished in a contemporary style. It will accomodate a group of four people, each couple using a double bed either in the separate bedroom or in the mezzanine (be careful with your head on the low ceiling!). Both in bedroom or in the living room, the decoration is sober but with a refined elegance. A complete and modern bathroom with a shower has a view over the garden at the back.

The central dining/living room is convenient with its designer sofa, LCD TV with cable television channels for the use of guests and a dining table. In one corner, the kitchen is fully equipped and awaits the enthusiastic chef, unless you prefer going out for dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants.

The apartment comes with heat for the winter period which is always very mild in Lisbon and air conditioning for the summer.

Whether you are in Lisbon for business or vacation the Alma Mater apartment with its excellent location, is also a very good starting point to experience the nightlife of Bairro Alto, while hidden away in the peaceful and residential area of Principe Real. In other words a great choice for your visit.
