The Caravela Apartment in Lisbon

The São Rafael Tower is one of the twin towers with this futuristic caravel sail shape which is the symbol of the Expo zone. Here you are in the new Lisbon of the 21st century, surrounded by major architectural masterpieces in Parque das Nações ! The Caravela apartment is a splendid ultra modern duplex, with views over the Tagus and this lively area. The Casino Lisboa, the Vasco da Gama Shopping mall and many other activities along the river like the Oceanarium are all at your feet. To go to the historical part of the city, you can use the metro or bus network for a quicker ride.

The area surrounding the apartment:

The neighbourhood of the apartment is what is called Parque das Nações (Park of the Nations) and was the site of the Expo ‘98. This exhibition has been the engine of a complete remodelling of this former industrial area, and the result is astonishingly and positively surprising. It is true that the most prestigious architects of the world built here many superb buildings like the Oriente railway station, the 14km long Vasco da Gama Bridge and Tower or the Portugal Pavillion. But after the Expo, the area also kept its full activities and attractiveness for both locals and tourists with the Oceanarium of Lisbon, the Pavilhão Atlantico with major top star concerts and Casino Lisboa recently opened. It also became the new heart of the business city with plenty of headquarter offices, restaurants and shopping areas. Not to be too isolated from the historical part of the city, the Expo offers good transportation facilities with metro or bus links with other parts of the capital.

The apartment:

On the 17th floor of one of these ultra modern buildings, easily recognised with its boat sail shape, the Caravela apartment has two bedrooms upstairs to allow lodging for up to 6 persons in a very convivial mode over 125m² when using the extra bedding of the sofa bed in living room. It is located in the very centre of the Expo area just above the Vasco da Gama shopping mall in front of the Oriente metro station.
All rooms overlook the Tagus and the exhibition center, thus they are very bright. When entering the flat, you come into a very comfortable living room, your ideal spot to admire the gorgeous aerial views of the Expo. Unless you prefer watching a cable television programme on the large LCD TV or play with the playstation, listen a CD or watch a DVD, you will be entertained. One of the sofas is a convertible twin bed sofa (two single beds). The white kitchen is a separate room fully equipped with appliances and situated next to the dining area.
The bedroom area is upstairs in this duplex and has a warm and cosy atmosphere with light wooden stairs and closets. Two suites have their own bathroom, one with a double bed and bathtub, the other one with twin beds and a shower. At your disposal enjoy high quality linen and towels.
The apartment has air conditioning and also heating for during the winter even though temperatures always remain mild in Lisbon in winter. A space for one car in the underground garage is included, but you can even have a second parking place if you wish.
