A cosy duplex in the heart of Alfama



You will be charmed to stay in the heart of Alfama, the oldest and also one of the most popular city district, at the foot of Santo Estevão church, in an old small building entirely renovated. The apartment will be your starting point for your tourist activities in Lisbon, close to Museum of Fado and Portuguese Guitar, only 5 min. from Santa Apolónia’ subway and train station. Nearby you can find taverns, typical restaurants and Fado houses but also small grocery shops and all sorts of traditional establishments revealing an ancient Lisbon.

The apartment:



The Duplex Estevão 2 is a 50m2 apartment, small but comfortable and well designed. The apartment has entrances on both levels so you can directly access the lower or upper level of the apartment. The upper level contains the living-dining area, in pastel and beige tones, with a sofa which can serve as a bed for one person, a TV with satellite channels and DVD, wireless internet, and a table with four chairs. The kitchenette is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. On the same level there is a washroom with toilet and basin. A short spiral staircase leads to the lower floor where you’ll find the bedroom, charmingly decorated in brown and green tones, with a double bed, air-conditioning, and a sofa which can serve as a bed for two children. On this level there is also a modern shower room with toilet and basin.
If you are coming with friends, they have the option of staying in one of our other apartments in the same building: the Suite Estevao for two people and the Duplex Estevao for 4 people.

In winter, you can use electrical heaters.

A lovely place to stay in an historical environment a few steps from all Lisbon tourist spots !

Alfama

If you come to Lisbon, you cannot miss Alfama, one of the most picturesque and historical medieval neighborhood, a mesh of small tiny streets, cul-de-sacs and stone stairs. Here lives a mixed population, people of all ages, “true” lisboners or lost tourists come to visit or to listen Fado. Like in many other places in Lisbon, you’ll find here also some of the most spectacular viewpoints of the Tagus river and the city. Here you can still find various forms of traditional commerce, as well as nice quaint little restaurants and bars. From the apartment you can walk to the majority of the most popular sightseeing destinations, such as the “Castelo de S. Jorge” the “Sé” or the “Baixa Pombalina”. For transportation, walk, or go down to Santa Apolónia the main train station and its recently opened metro station, or use the popular tram n°28 that zigzags through Alfama and pursues its trip up and down the hills of Lisbon. Although of restricted access by car, there are several parking facilities nearby.

    We liked the location and the duplex aspect worked well for us but not perhaps for a family with children.
    Certain amount of noise from property above from moving furniture, floorboards etc, rather than vocal noise.     David, United Kingdom 20 September 2011
