An artist apartment at the foot of the São Jorge Castle
On the slopes of the São Jorge Castle hill is located this charming two bedroom flat; its windows opening onto a magnificent view of the city. Here you are in the medieval part of Lisbon, a few steps away from the castle, the most visited monument in Portugal but also next to many restaurants and the main points of interest for tourists.
The area surrounding the apartment:
The neighbourhood of Costa do Castelo features some of the most spectacular viewpoints of Lisbon. If you simply stroll around for a quick 30 minute walk, you will have views over most of the city and the Tagus river. Should you go up to the terraces of the São Jorge Castle, Lisbon will lie underneath at your feet. From here, turn towards the ocean and spend hours just watching the perfect geometry of the Baixa Pombalina, see the people moving among the narrow streets going up the Chiado to Bairro Alto. The neighbourhood is very typical, popular even with tiny groceries and other shops, its old persons sitting at their doorstep and giving you their warm welcome in Portuguese ! From the apartment, you will be a few stairs away from the Praça da Figueira, “twin” square of Praça do Rossio in the Baixa where you’ll find a very busy shopping area with typical Portuguese shops standing next to those with the newest brands of the market.
The apartment:
Not long ago, the Atelier do Castelo was the studio of an architect. Despite the remodelling of the house, it kept some of its attributes : a large architect desk, mockups, plants and many art books. In this early XXth century building painted in pink and overlooking the Baixa, your accommodation is on the ground floor with much quietness since the area is restricted for car transit.
The flat decoration is sober reminding its original use with some paintings by the owner on the walls. The living room has views and is comfortable with a sofa and an armchair, plus a dining corner. The kitchen is very traditional in style and kept the stone fireplace. Two rooms with a large bed (160cm) or two twin beds (2 x 80cm, one folded under the other) give capacity for four people. A few steps lead you to the bathroom with bathtub.
The apartement is within a car-restricted area where only taxis and residents' cars can enter. If you come by car you will only have a foot access and must park your car outside the area.
An ideal accommodation to relax and so close to everything in Lisbon.

In the Baixa, a 5 minute walk from here, you’ll find a very busy shopping area where typical portuguese shops stand next to those with the newest brands of the market.
