In the heart of the historic city, underneath the São Jorge Castle, next to the Cathedral and very close to Alfama, it will be a perfect starting point for your touristic activities, monument visit, good restaurants, nightlife or barely rest on the terrace.

The area surrounding the apartment:

The neighborhood of Costa do Castelo features some of the most spectacular viewpoints of Lisbon. If you simply stroll around for a quick 30 minute walk, you will have views over most of the city and the Tagus river. Should you go up to the terraces of the São Jorge Castle, Lisbon will lie underneath at your feet. From here, turn towards the ocean and spend hours just watching the perfet geometry of the Baixa Pombalina, see the people moving among the narrow streets going up the Chiado to Bairro Alto. This is also the place to figure out how best the red iron of 25 de Abril Bridge fits in the overall landscape and finally admire the magical mirror of water that is the Tagus river.
From the Torre apartment, you will be a few steps away from the Se catherdral, one of the major religious sites of the capital. The Miradouro of Santa Luzia, just in front of Largo das Portas do Sol is only a few hundreds of meters away, so is the sector of Alfama in its vicinity of the Tagus. In the Baixa, a 5 minute walk from here, you’ll find a very busy shopping area where typical portuguese shops stand next to those with the newest brands of the market.

The apartment:

Be ready for a life in a tower, …with its stairs ! Your duplex accomodation starts on the 3rd floor of a late 18th century building with large stairways in dark wood patinated by years and walls covered of azulejos – those ceramic tiles of blue and yellow colours, dated as far as the 17th century. Here you are in a noble house, rebuildt after the 1755 earthquake in the centre of the historical city and surrounded by monuments.
The Torre apartment, ideal refuge for a couple is a suite of small rooms all linked with stairs and going up to the panoramic terrace which view will leave you speechless. At the first level of the duplex is a small cosy armchairs corner, a dining corner and a kitchen corner, all decorated with souvenirs of trips all over the world. The kitchen area has been very much optimised to insert all appliances and equipments for your comfort. Covered of ancient azulejos and with its wood beams the bathroom has picturesque cachet. At the next level a large bedroom, bright and comfortable with a double bed (140cm wide) opens its windows over the garden of neighbour houses, the cathedral or the city. Finally, you will have to go up a few more steps to reach the 20 square meter terrace overlooking the Tagus and the roofs of the Praça do Comercio.
