Here you are in the very heart of Lisbon, between the Baixa Pombalina and the São Jorge Castle, the most visited monument in Portugal. From the Jacarandas Apartment, and whichever direction you take, you’ll find History, nightlife, good restaurants and monuments to visit in the city.

The area surrounding the apartment:

The neighborhood of Costa do Castelo features some of the most spectacular viewpoints of Lisbon. If you simply stroll around for a quick 30 minute walk, you will have views over most of the city and the Tagus river. Should you go up to the terraces of the São Jorge Castle, Lisbon will lie underneath at your feet. From here, turn towards the ocean and spend hours just watching the perfet geometry of the Baixa Pombalina, see the people moving among the narrow streets going up the Chiado to Bairro Alto. This is also the place to figure out how best the red iron of 25 de Abril Bridge fits in the overall landscape and finally admire the magical mirror of water that is the Tagus river.
From the Jacarandas apartment, you will be a few steps away from the Santo Antonio Church, the patron saint of the city and from the Se catherdral, one of the major religious sites of the capital. The Miradouro of Santa Luzia, just in front of Largo das Portas do Sol is only a few hundreds of meters away, so is the sector of Alfama in its vicinity of the Tagus. In the Baixa, a 5 minute walk from here, you’ll find a very busy shopping area where typical portuguese shops stand next to those with the newest brands of the market.

The apartment:

The Jacarandas apartment enjoys privileged view and situation. From the window, colours of the tile roofs of the nearby Baixa palaces are contrasting with the blue imensity of the Tagus waters.
The name of the studio was inspired by the evanescent blooming Jacarandas trees. In front of the window is growing a small Jacardanda tree and a few meters downstreet, on the Largo do Correio-Mor stand half a dozen of those magical trees colouring in mild violet many streets of Lisbon.
Located at the foot of the São Jorge Castle, the Jacarandas appartment at street level but with view over the Tagus was completely remodeled in 2006. The building itself is a noble house from the middle 19th century. The decoration of the studio with an independent bedroom remains sober but modern and warming. Ideal for a couple coming for a stay in the historic part of Lisbon, the Jacarandas apartment can even accomodate lodging of a third person (child only). In the main room, a fully equipped kitchen is at your disposal for those who like preparing their own meals. The bedroom is separated with a glass door. And the bathroom, well thought and organised to the centimeter is welcoming you in its white and steel grey colours.
