Bright and refined penthouse apartment at the foot of piazzale Michelangelo, a renowned observation viewpoint for a panoramic view of the city

The Mira apartment is located on Florence's left bank, along the Arno. From here you can walk up the steep “Costa San Giorgio” climb or take the very pleasant 19th century step path “delle Rampe”. This route will lead you around some of the monumental collections of great artistic worth, and to the nooks and crannies of a selection of the most ancient parts of Florence. The perfect location for a couple, a family or a group of friends looking to stay close to the historic centre, under the wing of some of the most beautiful and evocative Florentine monuments.

The apartment:

On the final floor of a graceful, stately building

without elevator access (approximately 60 steps to the floor of the apartment)

, the Mira apartment is a lovely penthouse over two levels, with terracotta tiled floors and charming exposed wooden beamed ceilings. Refurbished in refined style with a knowing unison of antique and modern detailing, the apartment is furnished with select furniture that contributes to create an elegant atmosphere whilst at same time being intimate and relaxed.

On the first level is a large room filled with light coming in from huge windows, with a dining area and a lounge area with two large sofas (one can turn into a double bed for the 3rd and 4th guest), an armchair, TV and a lovely stone fireplace in the corner. The living room has access to a magnificent terrace with a fantastic view, and furnished with a table and chairs, whilst a wooden door separates the living room from the compact but very modern kitchen. The bathroom, in fresh pastel colours, has a bathtub. A set of stairs leads to the upper level, where there is an attic bedroom with a lovely, romantic ambiance. Please note that the Mira apartment is located in the same building of the Mira II apartment and therefore allows for the possibility that large groups of friends or relatives who wish to spend their holidays together in the same building can do so, while at the same time maintaining their own privacy.

The Mira apartment will prompt you to leave behind, just for once, the frantic bustle of modern life to fully enjoy a fantastic holiday in Florence.

Oltrarno

The name Oltrarno means “beyond the Arno” and this district along the south bank of the river presents a difference Florence. Quieter, greener, more relaxed, and with less traffic, it is one of the most rewarding areas where to stay in Florence.
Traditionally an artisans’ quarter Oltrano is still home of small workshops (particularly furniture stores and leather-workers) and Via di Maggio remains the focus of Florence’s thriving antiques trade. Then,  it also became a rather chic area for aristocrats to build palaces on the edge of the countryside. The largest of these, the Pitti Palace, became the home of the grand dukes and today houses a set of museums second only to the Uffizi. Among the major sights, the Cappella Brancacci stands out for its fabulous fresco cycle and San Miniato counts among Tuscany’s finest Romanesque treasures. Here you can also discover the Boboli Gardens, Florence’s best park.
But to discover the true character of Florence, step into the side streets, brimful of tiny authentic restaurants and bars (like in Piazza Santo Spirito), antique shops and artisans’ studios.
