Bright, elegant apartment just meters from Ponte Vecchio.

The Spirit apartment overlooks Florence's historic piazza of the Basilica of the Holy Spirit, Filippo Brunelleschi's ultimate masterpiece, and is a fantastic choice for those guests wishing to experience the heart and soul of the city, set amongst some of the most interesting Florentine monuments.

The apartment:

Located on the 3rd floor of an exemplary fifteenth-century building with elevator (there are 27 steps to the elevator's door), the Spirit apartment has been fully renovated with loving care, preserving and enhancing the traditional elements that reflect Florentine culture without sacrificing comfort or use of space. It is furnished with a knowing blend of antiques and modern elements.

This mansard apartment features large windows which make it very bright and airy, and parquet and terracotta flooring which make it feel warm and welcoming. The Spirit apartment welcomes guests into a living room that comprises a lounge area with a sofa, a table and chairs and a dining area with a small kitchen that can be easily closed off. On this same floor is a beautiful double bedroom furnished with antique furniture, wardrobe, and a TV, and a classic style, elegant bathroom dressed in marble with a bathtub. A staircase leads to the mezzanine which comprises an office with two desks and a second bedroom with a comfortable French-sized bed, a drawer chest and a modern wardrobe to place your clothes.

Oltrarno

The name Oltrarno means “beyond the Arno” and this district along the south bank of the river presents a difference Florence. Quieter, greener, more relaxed, and with less traffic, it is one of the most rewarding areas where to stay in Florence.
Traditionally an artisans’ quarter Oltrano is still home of small workshops (particularly furniture stores and leather-workers) and Via di Maggio remains the focus of Florence’s thriving antiques trade. Then,  it also became a rather chic area for aristocrats to build palaces on the edge of the countryside. The largest of these, the Pitti Palace, became the home of the grand dukes and today houses a set of museums second only to the Uffizi. Among the major sights, the Cappella Brancacci stands out for its fabulous fresco cycle and San Miniato counts among Tuscany’s finest Romanesque treasures. Here you can also discover the Boboli Gardens, Florence’s best park.
But to discover the true character of Florence, step into the side streets, brimful of tiny authentic restaurants and bars (like in Piazza Santo Spirito), antique shops and artisans’ studios.
