Sensational and authentic XV century Castle, that has preserved its charm over its 600 years of existence, in the Centre of the Costa Brava
The area surrounding the apartment
Queen Juana de Castilla stayed in this fabulous castle situated on the top of a hill in the region of Empordá together with her son who was to become the main ambassador for Spanish National Unity and the discovery of America, as well as the Catholic King Fernando a few years later.
Thus, the room where the queen herself stayed, which has been preserved and thus still remains intact, bears the name “Habitación de la Reina Juana” (Queen Juana’s Room).
It is very well located, just a few kms away from Roses Bay, the beautiful area of beaches and is well connected by road to all the areas and inland towns in the Costa Brava. The golf courses are particularly accessible from the castle, thus making it the perfect place to spend your holidays in the Costa Brava with friends.
The Castle
Not quite the style of castle you would find in the Middle Ages, but truly a stunning building that has kept its medieval spirit intact, and has been equipped with all the necessary amenities so that you have a fabulous holiday with your friends in the Costa Brava.
It stands out majestically on the landscape along with the adjoining XVI church, and to access the entrance to the premises there is an automatic gate with an access code. Once you are inside, you will find a huge terrace area of some 200 metres with a swimming pool, sun loungers, and a BBQ and pergola area leading to the main door. The castle has 11 bedrooms, 8 of which are ensuite, and 3 with a shared bathroom, as well as an additional room with 3 single beds ideally for children, but handy if you are visiting with a larger group.
Given that the castle is difficult to describe, you will just have to look at the photographs of its stately salons with antique furniture, Queen Juana’s bedroom, the various TV rooms, library, pool room, and various dining rooms etc…..You will feel like and live in the same comfort as a real XXI century king!
The rooms, almost all of them ensuite, and the numerous and versatile salons, lend the castle a character that will make you understand why real travellers include the Costa Brava in their holiday destination itinerary just like they would Tuscany, or Province.
