The area surrounding the house:
This cozy and spacious house, dating from 1870, has a great location: in the limits of San Telmo, only 35 minutes from the international airport.
Located in the heart of the most traditional and picturesque neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, San Telmo is one of the oldest areas in the city, well known for its colonial style, with narrow cobbled streets and old buildings which still preserve their original facade.
Full of history and personality. In the XIXth century it was the residence of Buenos Aires´ high class. During the seventies restoration and recovery of the neighbourhood - very rich in architecture and art movement regarding new tendencies- began. This bohemian area, today one of the most important markets regarding antiquities, with more than 500 shops.
You can also find a wide range of restaurants, pubs and tango clubs.
San Telmo´s highlight is the Plaza Dorrego Fair, which takes place every weekend. Really eccentric, it offers a huge amount of antiques and it gathers tango dancers, musicians, actors and typical shows from all around.
The house:
With a contemporary style, the house keeps the typical architectonic structure of a lordly and ancient house of Buenos Aires, with covered balconies and patios full of trees, flowers, climbing plants and a small fountain.
The house has 6 suites with private bathroom, each of them has been designed with its own identity, with design objects, original artworks, huge beds and Egyptian cotton linen, central heating, air conditioning, bath robes, make up mirror, hair dryer, mini bar, safe, black out curtains. The beds can be made also as twins. Two of the bedrooms have bathtubs with Jacuzzi jets, and one of them has a beautiful balcony.
The kitchen in ample and full, and the living room has a huge table for 12 people, and comfortable couches. In addition, there is a grill in the garden, table and chairs, and deck chairs.
The Gardel House has been carefully thought to give its guests a pleasant stay, full of historical reminiscences and at the same time, with a great design and art concept, and all the warmth, hospitality and comfort.
