BILBAO - FOR CHILDREN

Bilbao does not forget about children either. The third week of August, children enjoy shows, fair rides, the circus, FIRE Works and more during the Aste Nagusia. At Christmas time, children can enjoy activities and attractions at the Christmas Child Park.

Throughout the year, it is advisable to check the events calendar as there are a variety of activities for children such as theatre, marionettes, Clowns and cinema. Furthermore, museums like the Guggenheim and the Museum of Fine arts periodically organize children activities.

Etxebarria Park
A large Green area that allows the use of skateboards, bicycles, roller skates, balls etc. It begins at the Bilbao Council building stretching into the neighbourhood of Begoña.

Doña Casilda Park
A Green area with a lake containing different species of birds whereit is possible to play sports including basketball, table tennis, cycling, skating, jogging etc. It also has a play area for children under 13 years old. On Sundays during spring activities are organised for toddlers.

Plaza Nueva
This square is located in the heart of the old quarter, surrounded by arched doorways and terraced bars. This is a quiet and safe area. On special occasions, temporary huts are constructed which have typical regional products to try and to purchase.

Abandoibarra District
A recently built area including a large pedestrianised section leading up to the Arenal Bridge. An ideal spot for a family stroll.

Campo Volantín
This park area includes a bidegorri (cycle lane) as well as swings surrounded by trees and picnic areas.

Arenal Park
This is Bilbao’s traditional park. It includes green areas and it is very well connected (bus, metro, tram). On Bank Holidays and Sundays the bandstand is used for public concerts by the Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra. During the festivals of “Aste Nagusia” and Saint Thomas, huts (txoznas”) are constructed where you can enjoy Basque food.

Artxanda Park
The park is located on Artxanda mount where there is a sports complex for playing games including: football, bat and ball, pétanque, ”rana,” etc. Very popular during good weather, the area is ideal for friends and families alike. The park can be accessed using the cable railway.
