The area surrounding the apartment:
Located in Barcelona's old town, the Serra apartment is situated in the Barri Gotic near Las Ramblas. It is a short 2 min walk to the nearest bus station and a selection of restaurants, bars and high street stores can all be found nearby. Moreover, it is 5 min walk to the nearest metro station. The harbour, Plaça Catalunya and Barceloneta Beach - which lies beside the beautiful Mediterannean Sea - are all within a short walk.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE; this area is an up and coming area and has seen great changes in the last couple of years and is improving all the time. A multi ethnic and colourful atmosphere with all the sights and attractions on your doorstep. The neighbourhood may not be for everyone as it is still perhaps not as polished as other neighbourhoods and as the area is continuing in its development.
This lovely apartment is one of several we can offer in the building. The photographs are a selection of the various units. The apartments may vary slightly in the layout or décor but the features are the same. Your specific apartment will be allocated on arrival.
The new Serra apartment is in a building that has 4 apartments. It has been fully refurbished in 2011. It is located just steps from Las Ramblas, the Port and the beaches of Barceloneta. Its 3 bedrooms have been decorated with care. One room has 2 single beds and the other 2 bedrooms each have 1 double and 1 single. The apartment can accommodate families or groups comfortably. The modern open kitchen has everything you might need. It has 2 full bathrooms with shower. In the dining room there is a sofa that can be used as a bed to accommodate an extra adult or 2 children, if necessary. There is an elevator that goes to each floor and each opens into the living area. Each apartment has its own individual key. The apartment is equipped with TV, microwave, DVD and everything you need for a pleasant stay in central Barcelona. The roof has been recovered and preserved the original wooden beams so typical of Barcelona. It is a quiet area within walking distance of Las Rambles and the sea.
You need to be over 30 years old to book this apartment
The Barrio Gotico or Gothic Quarter is the heart of old town Barcelona and one of the best preserved medieval quarters in Europe, with various Roman remains to be found. The area itself is a body of pedestrian, interconnecting, narrow cobble stoned streets where you can wander around aimlessly for hours, taking in all the wonderful bars and cafes, restaurants and shops… as well as Barcelona’s very famous “La Catedral” (gothic cathedral) which is magnificent and a must see for all visitors. There is another very distinguished - but less visited Gothic church in this area also, the Santa Maria del Pi. The quiet and attractive Plaça del Pi in front of the church is filled with bars and restaurants with outside seating where a cup of coffee goes down well while watching the quirky street performers which congregate to entertain the visitors most days.
The Municipal government (Ajuntament) and Catalan regional government (Generalitat) are in this area standing opposite each other. Within walking distance from the Gothic Quarter are the famous Las Ramblas, the Liceu opera house, Barcelona City Hall in Placa Jaume, as well as the remains of the old Roman Walls coupled with many more treats from Barcelona's ancient and medieval past.
Plaça Reial is a well known spot, popular for it’s bars and restaurants and visitors can enjoy outdoor meals in one of the many eateries to be found, (beware of pickpockets!!)… Here we find the only work a young Gaudí designed for the city council, the Tres Gràcies fountain in the centre and lamp-posts around the plaza…
Although the Gotico is not as incredibly “cool” as the Born or as bohemian as the Raval, it is nonetheless an essential port of call.
