Few apartments exist with such an amazing location and which have been refurbished to such a high standard.

Located right on Paseo de Colon, this apartment will be your focal point from which you can map out where and what you want to see in Barcelona. The high standard and quality of the apartment combined with the lovely views of the Port, makes it a fantastic choice for your visit to Barcelona.

The area surrounding the apartment:

Situated on Paseo de Colon, with views of Port Vell, the location of this apartment is ideal. Right on the edge of the Gothic Quarter, which really is the true heart of Barcelona, all the places of interest are within easy walking distance such as the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, Port Vell and the very trendy El Borne, which is full of great cafés, bars and restaurants. The Gothic area is a maze of interconnecting dark, cobbled stone streets, and there are also plenty of cafes and bars. From the apartment guests can look upon a great view of Port Vell. You are also just a few blocks from the amazing gothic church of Santa Maria del Mar, where one can continue on to the Picasso Museum and the Cathedral.

The apartment:

This superb apartment was refurbished in 2009 and with its 125 m2 it is a very spacious two bedroom apartment that can easily rival the five star hotels of Barcelona for quality, high standard, location and price.
The wonderfully decorated apartment has a clean, modern and tasteful look and comes with AC/ heat which can be accessed by remote control and wireless Internet.
The apartment consists of two big open spaces; one is the spacious dining room with its American kitchen, the other is the huge living room.
Furthermore there are two big bedroom suites, both with private bathrooms.
The corridor of the apartment leads to the dining room and the state of the art kitchen, which also has a breakfast bar of solid grey stone. The kitchen is fully equipped and comes with all the mod cons, to ensure a hassle free stay. (Washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer and microwave)
This room is also ergonomically designed and blends in with the rest of this luxury apartment.
The huge dining room features a glass table with four leather chairs, which can be extended to offer space for up to eight guests.
The living room has two large comfortable four seater sofas, big plasma TV with some satellite channels, DVD and Stereo. One of the sofas is a sofa bed and can accommodate two guests.
Dining and living room have large French windows leading to a balcony with chairs where the guest can enjoy amazing views over the port.
The combination of an approximately 400 year old antique stone wall, high ceilings with wooden beams combined with the ultra modern look of this room gives a very warm atmosphere.
The apartment comes with two bedroom suites. The master bedroom suite has a big king size bed which can be separated into two single beds, built-in wardrobe and a glass work desk.
The spacious bathroom is as stylish and elegant in style as the rest of the apartment. It comes with fantastic power shower that has mosaic tiles and the look of the whole bathroom is understated elegance. The bathroom features a glass shower, two washbasins, a bidet and WC and comes with fresh towels ready for your use upon arrival.
The second bedroom suite has a king size bed, built-in wardrobes and is located on the opposite side of the apartment to offer the guests a maximum of privacy. The second bathroom features a huge shower, washbasin and WC.
Whether on business or pleasure, the Cervantes apartment is surely a great choice for your visit to Barcelona, you will not be disappointed.

Barrio Gotico

The Barrio Gotico or Gothic Quarter is the heart of old town Barcelona and one of the best preserved medieval quarters in Europe, with various Roman remains to be found. The area itself is a body of pedestrian, interconnecting, narrow cobble stoned streets where you can wander around aimlessly for hours, taking in all the wonderful bars and cafes, restaurants and shops… as well as Barcelona’s very famous “La Catedral” (gothic cathedral) which is magnificent and a must see for all visitors. There is another very distinguished - but less visited Gothic church in this area also, the Santa Maria del Pi. The quiet and attractive Plaça del Pi in front of the church is filled with bars and restaurants with outside seating where a cup of coffee goes down well while watching the quirky street performers which congregate to entertain the visitors most days.

The Municipal government (Ajuntament) and Catalan regional government (Generalitat) are in this area standing opposite each other. Within walking distance from the Gothic Quarter are the famous Las Ramblas, the Liceu opera house, Barcelona City Hall in Placa Jaume, as well as the remains of the old Roman Walls coupled with many more treats from Barcelona's ancient and medieval past.

Plaça Reial is a well known spot, popular for it’s bars and restaurants and visitors can enjoy outdoor meals in one of the many eateries to be found, (beware of pickpockets!!)… Here we find the only work a young Gaudí designed for the city council, the Tres Gràcies fountain in the centre and lamp-posts around the plaza…

Although the Gotico is not as incredibly “cool” as the Born or as bohemian as the Raval, it is nonetheless an essential port of call.

Layout of the apartment was good - both bedrooms were in the back, separate from each other and away from the front of the building & possible street noise.   Contact people (John & Julie) were pleasant, accessible, responsive, and helpful.  Very convenient location. Frank, Canada 02 June 2011
