Recently refurbished and in the heart of Barcelona city centre.

This completely refurbished apartment is in a great, central location, with everything you can possibly need to hand and all the sights are right on your doorstep!

A holiday stay at this convenient accommodation will make your adventures around Barcelona easy to plan.

The area surrounding the apartment:

This lovely apartment is a short walk away from Paseo de Gracia, one of Barcelona's grander avenue-like streets, that starts at Plaza Cataluña and continues till it meets with la Diagonal.

This location will allow the guest to step out of the apartment building and in less than 3 minutes, be in the center of Plaza Cataluña; off of this Plaza the guest will find Las Ramblas, with all the colourful street performers and the wonderful Boqueria market, an absolute must for any visitor to Barcelona...

From the apartment a short 5 minute walk will have you in the heart of the Gothic Quarter and el Born; this very trendy area is one of Barcelona's oldest neighbourhoods. An intricate maze of plaças and squares all interconnected by narrow, medieval streets where you will find lots of trendy boutiques and great bars, cafés and restaurants. This is the area that fell within the medieval walls and, until 150 years ago, made up the entire city of Barcelona.

With bars, clubs and hundreds of restaurants right on the doorstep of the apartment, you do not need to go far to enjoy all that the old town of Barcelona has to offer.

The apartment:

Modern in design, this great three bedroom apartment maintains the high ceilings typical of buildings in the center of Barcelona which gives it an airy feel.

The living area is the ideal spot to sit back and relax after a long day sightseeing. There is a comfortable sofa and a TV and DVD player. This area is flooded with light through the floor to ceiling windows which lead out onto a small balcony where you can enjoy a quiet glass of wine. There is a dining table and chairs should you decide to dine at home sampling some of the locally bought fresh produce from one of the many typical markets.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod cons that you could need to make your stay a hassle free one including, coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, etc...

The master bedroom has a double bed and ample wardrobe space for all of your belongings. The second bedroom has two single beds and the third bedroom has one single bed.

The apartment comes with a full bathroom with shower toilet and washbasin. Fresh towels are provided for guests on their arrival.

A great location from which to plan your trips around town.

Eixample (right)

Barcelona´s 19th century Eixample district is the birthplace of the Modernism movement where Antoni Gaudi is considered the leader. When looking to experience Barcelona´s world renowned reputation for leading 19th century architecture, this area is king. With all the Gaudi sites within reach like the grand and impressive famous Sagrada familia, the two famous Gaudi houses of La Perdera and Manzana de la Discordia, the sprawling Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, you´ll spend hours rambling along and looking upwards.  This grid-patterned area was created in the 19th century to accommodate the overflowing population from old Barcelona; luckily this coincided with Barcelona’s golden age of architecture.. Gaudí, Puig I Cadafalch, Domènech I Montaner were employed by the wealthy to build townhouses, each one more daring than the last…

The Eixample district is divided in two, the Eixample Dreta (right side) and Eixample Esquerra (left side), this divide is marked by Passeig de Gracia, a highly sophisticated shopping street…..

A large part of the Eixample’s attraction includes all the shops, restaurants, cafes and bars to be found… Passeig de Gracias alone will keep any visitor entertained for hours, but all the side streets are full of great stores, theatres, cafes with people everywhere, shopping, relaxing and enjoying an aperitif with friends and family…

EIXAMPLE DRETA (RIGHT)

This area of the Eixample came first and is full of fabulous Modernista works, such as Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, Puig I Cadafalch’s Casa Amatller and  Domènech i Muntaner`s Lleó Morera famously referred to as the Manzana de la Discordia…..

To the east of the city centre we can find another massive, towering example of Gaudí’s creativity, the Sagrada Familia; still under construction and will most likely continue to be so for a long time to come … it is full of symbolism and meaning. This amazing creation never disappoints as visitors to Barcelona are awed by it’s imagery and beauty time and time again….

One building which also warrants a mention is the Hospital de Sant Pau, still a functioning hospital to this day and it is probably the most complex example of Modernist architecture….

The Eixmaple dreta is rife with museums such as Fundavió Antoni Tàpies, Museo Egipci de Barcelona and the Fundació Francisco Goddia;

Other buildings of interest include the Palau Macaya, the tiled Mercat de la Concepció, the egg-topped Plaçá de Braus Monumantal and Barcelona’s last active bullring ….

I've used Friendly Rentals 5 times now for a trip to Barcelona for Prima Vera festival. I'm hugely impressed with them on all fronts - efficient, friendly, great, spacious and clean flats in central location. However, the festival was too packed this year and not sure I'll be back! But I'd definitely use FR again in another city. Suzannah, United Kingdom 01 June 2011
