A centrally located apartment in the heart of youthful and lively Gracia neighbourhood, Barcelona.
This unique and characterful apartment nestled in the heart of the Gracia neighbourhood allows the guest visiting Barcelona to experience a slice of life as lived by the locals.
The area surrounding the apartment:
The Cristobal apartment is situated in the heart of the Barcelona district called Gracia. Little more than a village in 1820, it was connected to Barcelona by a country lane named Passeig de Gracia. This street is now known as the fifth avenue of Barcelona with shopping of all kinds to satisfy anyone's needs. The area is quite different from its well developed and spacious urban plan of Exiample, with meandering streets and attractive small squares where locals meet and chat. The most important of these is the Plaça Rius i Taulet which is the site of the pre-1897 town hall and magnificent clock tower. But the most well known of all the sites is Gaudi's much visited Parc Güell, this incredible fusion of modernism and urban leisure is the ideal way to spend an afternoon during your visit to Barcelona. Gracia is a wonderful location to stay in while in Barcelona, it is a lively and colourful neighbourhood with many great local bars, cafés and restuarants to visit where mingling amongst the locals you might learn a thing or two. A short walk to the Fontana metro stop and within a couple of minutes you are downtown enjoying the hustle and bustle of Barcelona's Ciutat Vella.
The apartment:
This Barcelona apartment is ideally situated on a quiet street in this great neighbourhood. It is on the third floor of a superb old building that has been completely renovated with loads of character. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALTHOUGH THE BUILDING HAS AN ELEVATOR, IT STARTS FROM THE FIRST FLOOR.
Walk through the front door and you will find yourself in the dining/living area, with modern tendencies mingling with the old features that were able to be preserved, such as beautiful wooden beams with high ceilings and the typical Catalan exposed brick walls. There is also parquet floor throughout the apartment. In the living area, you will find a comfortable sofa where you can relax after a long day sightseeing watching DVD's or simply enjoying a glass of local wine...The modern dining table will comfortably seat four people.
The modern kitchen comes complete with all of the mod cons that will make your stay a hassle free one should you decide to prepare a meal from fresh foods bought at the local market which is a mere 30 seconds from your front door.
The apartment has two bedrooms, the main bedroom comes with a double bed and ample wardrobe space for all of your belongings. From here, you have access to the small terrace. The second bedroom has two single beds and also comes with ample wardrobe space.
The bathroom has been completely renovated and is spacious with a great walk-in shower that has been stylishly designed and finished.
Whether you are here with family or with friends, this apartment is perfect as your headquaters for your Barcelona adventure.

Gracia
The Gracia neighbourhood is one of the oldest in Barcelona, it has its own personality with lots of atmosphere and huge community feeling… Little more than a village in the 1820’s it was connected to Barcelona by a country lane, this is now known as Paseo de Gracia. The Gracia barrio is quite different from the well developed and spacious urban plan of Eixample, with it’s small streets and plazas…fiercely proud of it’s past independence from the main city of Barcelona.
The Gracia neighbourhood is inhabited by locals, artists, students and some foreigners and due to the varied residents living here, this barrio has a myriad of restaurants and shops, all offering good quality products at an affordable price… the streets are always full of people going about their daily lives, socialising or chatting with neighbours while sitting in the outdoor cafes….
This area has a wonderful nightlife and is full of restaurants and cafes; to really get the feel of this neighbourhood it is imperative to visit the plazas del Sol, de Rius y Taulet, de la Virreina, del Diamant, etc … the most important of these is the Rius y Taulet which is the site of the pre-1897 town hall and magnificent clock tower….
The most important of all the sites in the Gracia neighbourhood is Park Güell; this incredible fusion of modernism and urban leisure is the ideal way to spend an afternoon during your visit to Barcelona..
And for those guests coming to Barcelona in August, then Gracia is the place to be. It is at the end of this month that the Festa Major takes place…..an incredibly well-organised local festival in Gracia. Many streets are colourfully decorated each with a certain theme in mind. There is live music on every corner and you will find lots of the local people wining and dining outside. A festival not to missed!!!
Gracia is without a doubt a great neighbourhood to stay in, it is lively, colourful and definitely a slice of real life in Barcelona…
