Born

El Born is one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Barcelona and has become even more so over the last few years, combining a perfect balance between historical treasures, culture and “coolness”; an area very much sought after by the locals as well as the visitors. This area also boasts some of the highest property prices in the city …. This wonderful neighbourhood is full of many great bars, cafes, restaurants and is especially great for one of a kind boutiques as well as other, very well known clothing brands, such as Custo. The Born area is in such a great location, close to the Old Port and the beach, it’s surrounded by all the other cool and interesting places in Barcelona such as Barrio Gotico, Barceloneta, Old Port and Via Laietana. The Park Ciutadella is also a quick 5 minute walk from this area, perfect for a long stroll after a lovely lunch in one of the many terraces the Born has to offer.

A main feature of this great area is the wonderful basilica Santa Maria del Mar, right in front of this magnificent landmark, Barcelona’s guests can enjoy tapas and wine and watch the world go by…Other spots not to miss include Paseo del Born which is full of great bars and makes this area a lively night spot; not far from here is the Picasso museum….. The Born also has it’s own market, Santa Catarina with it’s funky, bright coloured roof. And finally not to be forgotten is the fantastic Palau de la Musica, which is possibly the most dazzling work of modernist architecture present in Barcelona….

Raimundo, propriétaire de l'appartement et hôte lors de notre arrivée, est d'une grande gentillesse. Situation géographique. Tranquillité tout en étant dans le coeur de Barcelone. Ensoleillement de l'appartement. Confort des lieux. Jean-françois, Canada 25 May 2011

Nice location, very spacious apt., comfortable, and felt very safe. Comfortable bed and the kitchen was very well equipped. When I finally met him in person near the end of my stay, he was so thoughtful to bring me a sweet treat typical in Barcelona. Upon checking out, Raimundo was very warm & helpful by getting up early to carry my heavy luggage down 5 flights of stairs. Helen, United States 11 May 2011

The owner Raimundo welcomed me with great warmth, a congenial handshake, a map and a brief yet valuable orientation to both the apartment and Barcelona. Happy to be called incase of an emergency or just some reliable local advice, Raimundo was very professional without being imposing in anyway. The studio apartment is conveniently situated on the corner of the same street as Placa de la Musica and a residential lane. It's spacious, light, clean with a contemporary feel. Thoughtfully equipped with reliable hot water, wireless internet, washing machine, coffee machine, it's all contained in a heritage shell in El Born. The two sets of double doors that open on to separate balconies that face both streets are lined with thriving pot plants. It was nice to wake each morning, draw open the curtains, let in the morning sun, fresh air and sounds of the old city awakening below. By 10:30pm, it's peaceful and still again. When my daughter arrived to stay on my last night, I didn't feel cramped or crowded at all. A brilliant location, comfortable, safe and secure, the apartment was like my home away from home.
