Venice with it’s canals, palaces, labrynith like streets, mulitude of bridges, gondolas, islands and carnival is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. The beauty of Venice is undeniable in fact it has been described as the most beautiful city built by man it is also considered to be one of the most romantic cities i n Europe. The beauty and romanticism of Venice is reflected in our apartment of the week, The Moro IV.

The 25th of April is a special day in Venice. It is the day in which Venetians celebrate the Feast day of St Mark, a significant day in the calendar for most Venetians and Italians as it is also Liberation day. It is a day where the Patron Saint of Venice, St Mark is honoured with mass and a procession in the Basilica, a day when lovers declare their love for one another and of course no holiday in Venice would be complete without a gondola race.

Venice is a city full of traditions. One of the more famous is the Festa della Sensa in which the wedding between the Duke, the former Govenor of the Venetian Republic, and the Sea

Venice Carnival renowned for its carnival masks and 18th century period costume is one of the most famous carnivals in existence, a magic event with the ability to take you back in time. Venice Carnival 2013 takes place from the 26th of January to the 12th of February. More than two weeks of Carnival in which masks, capes and stunning costumes occupy the city’s streets and squares.

Carnival in Venice, romantic, elegant and timeless it is the pride of the City of Canals and an experience which must be experienced at least once in a lifetime. It is also considered to be the oldest carnival in the world.

Venice is often referred to as a “living museum”. Said to have the highest amount of art per square metre of anywhere in the world, La Serenissima is the icing on the cake of old Europe; one of man’s greatest and most frivolous collective achievements.

Venice is made up of more than one hundred islands, joined together by canals and bridges. As if that weren’t enough, the city is also surrounded by numerous islands of different sizes which are dotted through the lagoon.

If there’s one thing in Venice that’ll keep tourists window shopping, it’s the carnival masks. With originals being decorated with animal skins, fabric, jewels and striking coloured feathers, the masks are a real visual magnet.
