Sitges, the beautiful sea side resort town just outside of Barcelona, is going to host the International Bears Meeting which attracts thousands of bears, cubs and chasers from all over Europe and the World in a celebration of Bear culture and the event marks the unofficial beginning of summer. Sitges International Bears Meeting 2013 takes place in Sitges from May the 1st to May the 5th.

Seafood Paella, Chicken paella, vegetable paella, meat paella, lobster paella, mixed paella, Valencian paella,…There are so many varieties of paella, although purists may accuse me of heresy, that if I may say this famous dish allows as many ingredients and variations as there are chefs. The secret of good paella is to prepare it with love and dedication, to make a good paella base with quality ingredients and to cook the rice just right.

Sitges Carnival is here again, that one time of the year when anything goes, a week long celebration of hedonism and debauchery occurring this year from the 7th to the 14th of February in the streets of Sitges. The most famous of all Carnivals in Spain it attracts visitors from all over the globe to watch and participate in the week long events which include the famous Debauchery and Extermination Parades.

Just a few kilometres from Barcelona, Sitges is a small, thoroughly charming city hedged in by the mountain and the sea. Free-spirited, Sitges has managed to diffuse a certain sophisticated air through its historical, white-housed streets, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Sports lovers will also find various golf courses, three leisure ports and excellent beaches in Sitges.

Various prophecies, among them those based in the ancient Mayan calendar, say that the world will end this December 2012. Luckily, the fantasy Film Festival in Sitges will be celebrated beforehand, from the 4th to the 14th of October.

Our short rental apartments in Sitges have been selling like hot cakes recently, and frankly we’re not surprised. Tucked away under an hour from Barcelona, this pretty white town comprises a warren of cobbled streets that lead down to the heart-stoppingly beautiful seaside church and blue-flag beaches.

The dates for Sitges Pride 2012 have been officially set as the 5th to the 9th of July. Festival organisers, however, are being particularly coquettish about revealing the official programme. We have, however, been able to glean certain amounts of information about the 2012 Pride programme from our various sources. Here’s what we’ve been able to find out.

With summer just starting to kick in, we need very little excuse to take a cheeky holiday in Sitges, one of our favourite destinations in Spain. Fortunately, we’ve found one: the religious festival of Corpus Christi, which celebrated every year in Sitges with blankets of fresh flowers that line the streets of the city. This year, the Corpus Christi festival will be held from the 9th to the 17th June.

The beginning of the Easter week (Semana Santa) in Sitges is also the start of spring, which from then onwards slowly moves into the summer season.It is also the beginning of the first major vacation and many people take the opportunity to escape from work for a couple of days. Thousands of visitors from all regions of Spain and Europe arrive every year in Sitges.

From March 15th to March 18th 2012 the International Patchwork Fair takes place in Sitges. This is the most important exhibition of textile art of its kind in Spain.

The Barcelona-Sitges vintage car rally, which dates back to the early 20th century, is a unique international event and is anually organized by the Sitges Tourist Office. It's not designed to be a competition to see who can go fastest, but much more an aesthetic celebration of the most beautiful oldtimers.
