From the 16th to the 19th of April 2013, fedoras, police badges, revolvers, hip flasks and fishnet stockings will be common topics in Salamanca. Writers, directors, journalists, experts and fans of film noir and crime fiction will convert Salamanca into the crime capital during the University of Salamanca’s IX Crime Fiction and Film Noir Congress.

In Salamanca, exactly one week after Easter Monday, they celebrate the popular Water Monday festival. A special day where it is very typical to head out into the surrounding countryside to have picnic with friends and family but the most interesting thing about Water Monday is not how it is celebrated but the history of why.

The University of Salamanca, one of the most important features of our newest destination, is known as one of the “four leading lights of the world”, along with Paris, Bologna and Oxford. And it’s true that the whole city, set in the lonely rolling plains of Castilla y León, does have a certain luminescent quality about it.
