Contemporary film fanatics are in for a treat as this autumn the Rome film festival season is approaching. It could be held in no other place than the Eternal City of Rome. Thus, the fifth edition of the Rome International Film Festival will be taking place between the 28th of October to the 5th of November in the Auditorio Parco della Musica, the spectacular public music complex designed by the prestigious architect Renzo Piano.
The various rooms in the music complex will be hosting the different activities lined up for this prestigious festival. Thus, the screening of films and chats/interviews with directors and members will be mainly carried out in the 5 theatres that comprise the Auditorium as indicated as follows; the Santa Cecilia, Sinopoli, Petrassi, Teatro Studio and Studio 3. Meanwhile, the remaining activities and events planned for the festival will be held in the following rooms; Foyer, El Auditórium Arte, el Spazio Risonanze y el Museo Archeologico.
However, the festival activities will not be limited to the impressive walls of the Auditorio Parco della Musica music complex. The whole city will be taking part and showing their dedication to quality cinema by organising events related to their given topic in different locations of this legendary city. This includes the city’s main cultural institutions and associations of the cinema industry.
As a demonstration of the quality of this festival, the organisation has announced a 16 film line-up all competing for the Marc’ Aurelio award, in addition to 6 more films not competing for the aforementioned award.
All for the glory of a festival that is becoming increasingly more popular on the international film scene every year. In previous editions the likes of Meryl Streep, Tim Burton and Martin Scorssence have attended, amongst others, and this year none other than the award winning Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore who received an Oscar for his film “Nuevo Cinema Paradiso,” will be present in the panel of judges.
