On Sunday the 10th of April, Paris will once again be hosting their annual marathon commencing on the famous and prestigious Champs Elysées. The first marathon was run as early back as in 1896, comprises what could be the most picturesque run in the world, and attracts an average 35,000 participants every year.
Paris International Marathon
The Paris International Marathon, commencing on the Champs Elysées, goes along the Right Bank to the Bois de Vincennes, and back along the Left Bank to the Bois de Boulonge. Throughout the marathon, runners will get a good view of this magnificent city and some of its most famous sites. The course starts route right in front of the Triumphal Arch and continues down the Champs Elysées. The route then passes through two Parisian woods and pass famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place de la Bastille. A large part of the course runs along the banks of the River Seine so some pleasing scenery is guaranteed for all participants. Furthermore, the flat streets and broad avenues will make it a pleasant run for all those involved.
The marathon is limited to 40,000 runners, you can count on the support and cheers of 250,000 onlookers, and the 70 music scenes will definitely spur you on. Finally, you can look forward to some red wine as can be expected of Paris, and some cheese served by the organisers at the 35th km mark just in case you forget you're in France.
