The Museum Route in Madrid

The Museum
Route has returned to Madrid, an event thanks to which you can visit
several museums for free throughout May. It is a cultural promotion that is
carried out in collaboration with the Madrid
metro, given that the only condition for visiting the participating museums is
having a travel pass or metro ticket.
There are seven museums and cultural
institutions involved in 2011
Museum Route in Madrid. To visit them for free under this
cultural scheme, metro users have to check the dates which vary. In addition, you
can also win a Planetarium voucher and other prizes including scientific book
kits if you take part in the “Science Passport” scheme.
Enjoy this cultural scheme launched by the
Sport and Culture Councillor, Ignacio Gonzalez, which allows you to visit 5
museums in Madrid
for free with your transport ticket (metro, bus, or your monthly pass). In this
way, the metro and bus are not just daily transport means, but they are also a
link to culture and knowledge, making them more accessible.
The first museum that will be opening its doors
to the public for free is the Natural
History Museum
(on the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th of
May). Then, the Royal Botanical Gardens (on the 9th, 16th,
23rd and 30th of May), the Geominero Scientific Institute
(on the 14th and 15th of May), the National Museum of Anthropology (on the 21st and the
22nd of May), and finally the National
Science and Technology Museum (the 28th and 29th
of May) will be opening their doors for free as part of the initiative.
