Entertaining museums and places for children

London is a city with many leisure activities on offer for adults, as well as children. If you are travelling as a family to the British capital then you will find it very easy to organise visits and activities as there are many places that you can discover and which are guaranteed to entertain the kiddies.

These are just some of the many activities that you can enjoy as a family in London:

National History MuseumLife-sized dinosaur models, fossils, skeletons, plants, interactive activities to discover how earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur and games, etc await visitors to the museum…..an incredible space dedicated to the Earth and its life forms, which children will most definitely enjoy.

Science Museum A huge, unique and fun museum filled with an abundance of interactive experiences for discovering the history and the latest advancements in science. Further to the IMAX 3D cinema and virtual reality simulators visitors will find strange objects such as half the conserved brain of mathematician Charles Babbage, the oldest surviving steam locomotive and the Apollo 10 Command Module.

London ZooChildren always like animals, so if you fancy spending the day with penguins, monkeys, reptiles and lions then going to the zoo is your perfect option. Located at lovely Regent’s Park, it is run by the Zoological Society of London and is home to a large variety of different species.

Transport MuseumSituated right next to Convent Garden, this unique museum explains the heritage and how the transport system in London works, the oldest in the world. It comprises an entirely interactive space where you can admire a large selection of vehicles from different times, in addition to an area especially for children.

London DungeonA spine-chilling and terrifying experience awaits those who dare in this museum of horror where, amongst many other things, you will discover the truth about Jack the Ripper and diverse methods of torture. The frightful and disturbing images in this dungeon will make your hair stand on end. Best for teenagers and older children.

South Bank This cultural centre, situated in the heart of London, is bubbling with activity. All year round a wide range of activities are arranged to suit everyone, and that of course includes children. Also situated on the banks of the River Thames are the London Eye and an old-fashioned carousel. In addition, you can also admire the frequent street performances there.

Legoland WindsorSituated just a few kilometres from the city is the ideal theme park for spending a day out with the family and which especially comes recommended for children from 3 to 12 years old. Children can enjoy the endless number of attractions and shows at Legoland Windsor, in addition to the some 55 million LEGO pieces there.

Other excellent places for children to visit are Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, the London Museum of Childhood, Thorpe Park and the London Aquarium….or Regent Street, home to some of the largest toy shops in the city including Disney, Warner and Hamley’s.

Finally, throughout the year there are various activities taking place across the city organised especially for the little ones including theatre and puppet shows, etc. If you’re coming to London with children, now you have no excuse to leave them at home.
