Apartment
of the week,
the Duplex Estavo

During June
and July, the Portuguese capital is just at hotbed of activities, and on its
streets you can enjoy numerous concerts, festivals, art exhibitions, theatre
and of course traditional fado that tints the sky of the city with its
melancholy tunes. However, now that it’s
summer, festivals, colour and fun will now be taking hold of the city in the
form of a big festival with the traditional Festas de Lisboa that is celebrated
in honour of their patron saint, Saint Anthony.
And, if
that wasn’t enough, from the 15th to the 25th of June, Lisbon will be hosting
its Festival Silenció, dedicated to new artistic and urban cultural expression.
There is also an International Handicrafts Fair taking place, featuring the
best handicrafts and gastronomy from all over the world. In addition, the Super Bock Super Rock Festival will be returning this summer with the best music from
artists of such standing as Portishead, the Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes.

Therefore,
we would like to recommend our apartment of the week, the Duplex Estevao,
situated in the picturesque Alfama district so that you can enjoy all these
activities to the max, as the majority of the festival events take place there.
This traditional district with narrow streets, steep hills and beautiful views
of el Tajo, is one of the oldest and most authentic places in Lisbon. Considered the birthplace of fado,
you can enjoy the nightlife there, and the typical taverns and fado houses.

The Duplex
is situated at the foot of the Santo Estevao Church
and very close to the Castle
of Sao Jorge. The
apartment is merely a few steps away from Lisbon
tourist spots such as the Sé Cathedral, the Museum of Fado
and Pombaline Lower Town District. It sleeps 4 people, easily accommodating a
family or small group of friends.
The
apartment has been decorated with modern, practical and simple furniture, and
it occupies the 2nd and 3rd floor of an old building,
typical of the area. It has been completely reformed so that you can enjoy the
traditional architecture at no cost to your comfort. It has two bedrooms with
double beds, two bathrooms, a modern and fully-equipped kitchen, and a living
corner with a sofa bed where children can sleep.
The Duplex
San Estevao is the perfect place to stay if you want to be surrounded by
history and authentic Lisbon
celebrations for a few days.
