Music Day
in Belem
comprises a three day marathon of concerts in the emblematic cultural space,
the Belem
contemporary art centre in Lisbon. This event, taking place from the 15th to
the 17th of April 2011, attempts to bring people closer to and
promote classical music in a different way.

Visitors
can enjoy a total of 65 performances taking place in 7 different concert halls
over a three day period, as well as take advantage and see what this cultural
centre has to offer which holds exhibitions, and resides over the river making
for some very pleasant views.
Finally, there
will be concerts and recitals taking place in the Belem exhibition halls and spaces. In
addition, there will be pianos available for the public to play with, informal
talks led by the artists in the Reading Room and CDs, books and other festival
related objects on sale for you to purchase if you so choose.

Dates: the

Times: Opening concert on Friday the 15th
April at 9pm. The large auditorium doors will be open to the public before the
performance starts.
The first
concert on Saturday the 16th will take place at 11am in the small
auditorium.
The first
concerts on Sunday the 17th April will start at 11am.

Unloved (Mal-amados)–
Exiled composers, prisoners, censured etc, whose music was rejected by the
public at the time hence the unloved.
Modernist (Modernistas)
– Original and at times revolutionary musical compositions

A letter
always precedes the concert numbers. A corresponding to those taking place on
Friday, B for those on Saturday, and C for those on Sunday. You will only get a seat number for those performances taking place in the large auditorium. Seats will be taken on a first come first serve basis in the other concert halls.
