Lisbon is the capital of Music and Jazz during this summer with concerts and festivals from June to August.
Elton John in Restelo
It starts with a concert by the British singer Elton John who returns to Lisboa for an unforgettable concert, part of the Rocket Man Tour 2009, on June 27 in Restelo Stadium.
Estoril Jazz Festival
Evenings in June will enjoy another beat to the sound of Estoril Jazz, the oldest festival of this musical genre in Portugal. The festival celebrates its 28th anniversary with an eclectic program but still faithful to “mainstream” US jazz.
With its opening on June 26 at 9:30pm, the festival will feature a quintet concert by the quintet of saxophonist James Carter discovered 17 years ago by the legendary Wynton Marsalis. The next day, at 3pm, the Jon Mayer Trio performs in a new section known as “Jazz em Miudos' (Jazz bits) the brilliant pianist will no doubt do his amazing improvisations. In the evening, at 9:30pm it’s time for feminine jazz, with the Roseanna Vitro Trio. This concert will show the singer’s versatility and wing, accompanied by a special guest star: Kenny Werner. One of the leading modern jazz musicians, Chick Corea performs solo on June 28, 9pm, at Estoril Jazz, an event which on the piano will allow him
to express all the jazz in his soul. This concert closes the first part of this festival which will return to Estoril in July June 26 to 28, Estoril Congress Centre, Avenida Clotilde, Estoril. Further information at

Therefore this year Cooljazz will be presented as Cascais Cooljazz and Mafra Cooljazz, each with their own independent programmes and dynamics, staying faithful to the Cool jazzfest Great Mix brand. As has been the habit well-known national and international artists step on the stages of COOLJAZZFEST GREAT MIX, this year even more elaborated, the CASCAIS COOLJAZZFEST stage and the MAFRACOOLJAZZ stage.
