Flamenco
show
This summer,
flamenco is on the agenda. Granada will be
dressed up in all its finery to present the latest top flamenco dancers who are
going to be sharing their art on the Corral de Carbón stage in Granada.
The
festival, which boasts of having served as a platform for launching upcoming
dancers over the last 12 years, has decided on a slight change this year, thus
not only will the festival feature emerging artists, but also internationally
famous artists that haven’t performed in the event before.
This
edition will showcase the latest in flamenco today with renowned artists such
as Milagros Mengíbar, Belén Maya, Rafaela Carrasco and Isabel Bayón, not
forgetting young talent including Manuel Liñán, La Moneta and David Coria,
etc.
The rhythm,
energy and personality of this dance native to Andalusia, awaits you during the
warm summer evenings in this historical building in Granada, which was once a coal yard.
The Corral
de Carbón is not only a unique setting for the festival, it is also an iconic
monument of the city. It was built by the Arabs in the XIV Century during the
Nazari Reign. Situated in the south of the city, next to the market place and
the Great Mosque, it was originally used as a warehouse, travellers’ inn, and wholesale.
Later it provided shelter for coal merchants, then it was converted into a comedy
theatre. Now flamenco takes over this cultural space during the summer, in the
same place where six centuries before classic theatre took place.
Take a trip
to Granada to
discover the magic of flamenco performed in a unique setting, and let yourself
be captivated by this beautiful Andalusian city.
