Firenze Gelato Festival
Do you like
ice-cream? Would you like the pleasure of trying the best Italian ice-cream? Then,
you have a delicious date with the sweetest week of the year. As from the 25th
to the 29th of May, the second edition of the festival devoted
entirely to this refreshing and international dessert, will be celebrated in
the romantic Tuscan city of Florence.
The variety of colours and flavours will take over the city and palate of
visitors and locals alike, revealing the secrets of authentic Italian
ice-cream, famous for being the best in the world.
The
festival setting will be none other than the incomparable historic centre of Florence. On Piazza Della
Repubblica, and half way between the Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo, Sammontana,
the Industrial Ice-cream Village will be set up, where educational activities
and games for children will take place.
On Piazza
Pitti, opposite the old palace that was former residence to the Médici, the Artisan Ice-cream Village
will be found. The finest ice-cream makers in Italy will be gathering there so
you can try the tastiest artisan ice-cream there is. Visitors will also be able
to do a tour of all the traditional ice-cream parlours in the city’s old
district, and try some ice-cream there.
The
festival, which is sure to delight children as well as grown-ups, will also
feature workshops showing how to make ice-cream, taste-testings of ice-cream
based cocktails, conferences and various shows.
Over the
next few days, ice-cream of a thousand different colours and flavours will be
transforming one of the most attractive Italian cities into an irresistible temptation,
which will allure you to try each one in each corner of the city.

devoted entirely to one of the most famous Italian culinary icons, which is
eaten there summer and winter.

to try the ice-cream, you need to obtain a “Firenze gelato card” that you can
buy online, at the information points on Pitti and la Repubblica Squares,
and in various ice-cream parlours, for the modest price of 7 euro
