For many it is Sitges’ most eagerly anticipated yearly event. Five days of music, partying and mayhem. More than 60,000 people from all corners of the World. Concerts, fashion, acceptance, sun, beach, parades, shows…We are talking about Sitges Gay Pride.

From the 23rd to the 26th of June, Rotary International members are going to meet in Lisbon to celebrate teh 104th International Rotary Convention, an annual event which unites Rotary members form around the world. This will be on be one of the biggest conventions held in Portugal and organisers are expecting 25,000 people to attend.

The walls of the coliseum in Rome are set to shake to the sound of rolling thunder when thousands of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts roll into Rome. Drawn to Rome from the far flung corners of Europe they are set to lay siege to the historic centre of the eternal city as they celebrate the Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary from the 13th to the 16th of June 2013.

Considered to be the largest event of its kind, 50 national and international artists transform more than 40, 000 tons of sand into amazing, but temporary, works of art. The International Sand Sculpture Festival is based on a different theme every year, last year was Idols, this year it is Music. Expect to see sand sculptures up to 12 feet tall of your favourite rock, folk or pop group or maybe even sculptures representing dance and classical music.

During summer in Spain it seems there are endless festivals and concerts occurring all over the country. Of all the festivals there is one which stands out from the rest, the Cap Roig Festival. Performing at this year’s festival will be Elton John, Mark Knopfler, Diana Krall and many others. The festival runs from the 20th of July to the 16th August 2013.

During St Jordi in Barcelona, books and roses take to the streets and the city gets dressed for the occasion, La Rambla, Passeig de Gracia, Plaza Catalunya, Plaza St. Jaume and many other emblematic streets in Barcelona fill with Catalan flags, stalls selling books and roses and people soaking up the atmosphere of this very special day.

With a line up featuring world renowned artists Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Iron Maiden, David Guettea, Alicia Keys and Bon Jovi it comes as no surprise that tickets for one of the world’s biggest music festival Rock in Rio 2013 sold out in four hours. For seven days Rio de Janeiro will focus the attention of the music world from the 13-15 and 19-22 of September 2013.

Every year, thousands of people make the pilgrimage to Kobetamendi to pay homage to rock, alternative and electronic music at the Bilbao BBK Live. BBK Live is one of the biggest summer music festivals in Spain. Groups such as Metallica, R.E.M, Coldplay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Prodigy, Iron Maiden and Radiohead have graced the stage in previous editions. If you think they are good, sure that this year’s line up won’t let you down.

Sitges, the beautiful sea side resort town just outside of Barcelona, is going to host the International Bears Meeting which attracts thousands of bears, cubs and chasers from all over Europe and the World in a celebration of Bear culture and the event marks the unofficial beginning of summer. Sitges International Bears Meeting 2013 takes place in Sitges from May the 1st to May the 5th.

The 25th of April is a special day in Venice. It is the day in which Venetians celebrate the Feast day of St Mark, a significant day in the calendar for most Venetians and Italians as it is also Liberation day. It is a day where the Patron Saint of Venice, St Mark is honoured with mass and a procession in the Basilica, a day when lovers declare their love for one another and of course no holiday in Venice would be complete without a gondola race.

Now into its seventh year, Afrikaburn is a gathering of self-reliant, expressive people who create themed camps, mutant vehicles, colourful costumes and fantastic music, a place where freedom of expression reigns supreme.Afrikaburn 2013 occurring from the 1st to the 6th of May.

In the Renaissance city of Florence music has always placed an important role and at the very centre of this is the Teatro del Maggio Musicale which hosts the annual Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Florence Music Festival. Along with Bayreuth and Salzburg, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious European Musical Festivals and this year will take place in Florence from the 2nd of May to the 25th of June.
