Things to do this weekend in Barcelona


February has arrived and with it a cold spell. However, the chilly weather has had no affect on the weekend, and there are still lots of exhibitions, concerts, activities and events to allure you out of your warm houses. Here are our suggestions for this weekend in Barcelona:


Friday the 3rd of February


BCNEGRA – Detectives, police, investigators, the mafia and criminals will be gathering in Barcelona and transforming the city into the crime capital, however only in fiction. This detective fiction literary gathering in Barcelona unites more than 50 writers and specialists of the genre with detective fiction fans. Conferences, screenings, exhibitions and debates are also on offer. Where: Different places across Barcelona. When: From the 2nd to the 11th of February. Price: Free.

NANCYS RUBIAS – This Madrid band led by Mario Vaquerizo is presenting its fourth album “Ahora o nunca” (Now or Never), in a show where lycra, glamour and frivolities reign. Pure entertainment combining glam with rock and electronic music. Where: Razzmatazz Club (C/Almogàvers,122). When: 1am. Price: Advance purchase 12 euro, 15 euro at the ticket office.

BURNS NIGHT AND CEILIDH – For those of you who are looking for something different to do this Friday then how do you fancy a traditional Scottish meal with typical dishes such as haggis? And the party continues with whisky tastings, music with the Caulbums Ceilidh Band from Glasgow and traditional dances. So, get your kilt out! Where: Centro Asturiano de Barcelona (C/ Ràfols, 17-21). Saturday the 4th of February


DOCS BARCELONA – This International Documentary Film Festival in Barcelona is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. In this edition of the event, more than 50 documentaries that talk about life on death row to the construction of human towers, amongst many other topics will be screened. Where: Diverse cultural institutions across Barcelona. When: Up until the 5th of February. Price: Entrance fee for a session 6 euro, festival pass 25 euro. There are also free screenings on offer.

YES, WE SPAIN… IS DIFFERENT – Carlos Latre, considered the best Spanish imitator there is, is returning to Barcelona with a fresh new act featuring Rajoy who discovers that Zapatero sold Spain to Germany and is seeking help from Obama to get it back. For an hour and a half, Carlos Latre is shocks, transforms into 70 different characters, sings numerous songs from well-known musicals and above all, has fun. Where: Coliseum (Gran Vía Corts Catalanes, 595). When: Up until the 19th of February. Price: 20 euro to 35 euro.


Sunday the 5th of February


GLOBAL SCREEN – Television sets, computers, security cameras, mobile phones….Screens have taken over our lives and become the indisputable queen of this exhibition. Discover the power of screens! Where: CCCB (C/Montalegre, 5). When: Until the 28th of May. Price: Normal entrance fee 5 euro, reduced fee 3 euro for the unemployed, retired and unders 16s. Sundays from 3pm to 8pm free.

LITTLE BARCELONA – An XS fashion and design fair. Children’s fashion, accessories, decoration and articles of all kinds from national and international brands, who will be presenting their latest offerings for children. Where: FAD (Plaça dels Àngels, 5-6). When: The 5th and 6th of February from 9:30am to 7pm. Price: Free.
