Things to do this weekend in Barcelona


Another weekend in Barcelona, another great variety activities on offer to keep you entertained. Take a look and enjoy!
Friday the 20th of January
CORTEO – The Cirque du Soleil has once again returned to Barcelona and this time with their Corteo show. It comprises a theatrical piece accompanied by lyrical and playful music, and features a clown who pictures his own funeral watched over by angels. Guaranteed to be a hit given the reputation of the company and the high quality circus acts by their skilled peformers. When: 10pm. Where: Cirque du Soleil tent (Diagonal Mar, Av. Litoral) Price: 45 euro to 200 euro with children’s discounts available. 

13 FESTIVAL MIL-LENI – Majorcan group Antònia Font will be performing tonight in Barcelona Auditorium as part of the 13 Festival Mil-leni. Visitors to the city will be able to enjoy a wide variety of concerts by some of Spain’s top artists well into the month of March. However, tonight visitors can enjoy the festive music and humorous lyrics of this talented band. Where: Barcelona Auditorium (Calle Lepanto, 150). When: 9pm. Price: From 18 euro to 28 euro.

Saturday the 21st of January
BARNASANTS 2012 SONG FESTIVAL – It comprises a singer-song festival and over the 3 months that the event takes place more than 100 big and small concerts are scheduled. Visitors and locals alike can expect a variety of musical styles to suit all tastes, however this Saturday it will be the group Habana con Kola who will be performing for our entertainment. Take a look at the programme and see if there’s anything else that takes your fancy. Where: Harlem Jazz Club (Calle de la Condesa de Sobradiel, 8). When: 11am.Price: 6 euro.

FESTA DELS TRES TOMBS 2012 – The “Tres Tombs” parade forms part of the Saint Anthony’s Festival celebrations held until Sunday the 22nd of January. It translates as the “Three Tours” and features around 35 carriages passing through the streets of Barcelona in tribute to old animal-drawn vehicles of the past such as fire-engines etc. Highlights also include the blessing of the parade animals and the fire-run taking place on Sunday evening at 8pm marking the end of the celebrations. Where: Sant Antoni area, Exiample district. When: From 11am. Price: Free.

EL BARRIO – This famous Andalusian singer-composer, famous for hiding behind his El barrio black hat, has made his way to Barcelona to offer us a taste of his new album “Espejos” (Mirrors). This artist has previously released 10 other pop-rock Andalusian CDs, however fans can expect a little more flamenco in his latest work. Where: Palau de Sant Jordi (Passeig Olímpic, s/n). When: 9:30pm. Price: From 33 euro to 156 euro.


Sunday the 22nd of January
3D PLANETARIUM. NATURAL SELECTION – The CosmoCaixa has finally opened the doors of its digital planetarium to the public. Visitors will be able to enjoy a film entitled “Natural Selection” fully projected onto the Planetarium dome and watch the evolution process through Charles Darwin’s eyes, all in 3D. All the latest technology has been used to offer you an unforgettable experience so make sure you don’t miss out! Where: Cosmo Caixa, C/Isaac Newton, 26. When: Tuesday to Friday at 5:30pm, and weekends and bank holidays at 11am with hourly sessions until 7pm. Price: 2 euro.

BARCELONA WALK – It comprises a 10km walk around Barcelona taking approximately 3 hours. This is the first walk of 2012 and is a perfect way of discovering the city whether it’s your first visit to Barcelona or not. No prior inscription is required and some food and drink will be provided during. Where: Plaça Universitat. When: 9am. Price: Free.
